MESSAGE OF THE WEEK (May 11, 2026)
“Move Forward in the God Who Saves”
When Israel stood trapped between the Red Sea and Pharaoh’s army, they were completely powerless to save themselves. They did not divide the sea. They did not hold back the Egyptian army. They could not rescue themselves by their own wisdom, strength, or courage. God alone would accomplish their salvation.
That is why Moses declared:
“Fear not, stand firm, and see the salvation of the LORD, which he will work for you today. For the Egyptians whom you see today, you shall never see again. The LORD will fight for you, and you have only to be silent.” (Exodus 14:13-14).
Yet Israel still had a decision to make. When God opened the sea, they had to trust Him enough to move forward. They had to walk between those towering walls of water to reach the other side. Remaining frozen in fear would have kept them from experiencing the deliverance God had provided.
The same is true for Christians today.Through Jesus Christ, we have been given far greater and more precious promises under the New Covenant. Hebrews 8:1-6 teaches that Christ is the mediator of a better covenant founded upon better promises, and 2 Peter 1:1-4 reminds us that God has granted us “exceeding great and precious promises.”
But just like Israel, we must choose to move forward in faith. We cannot save ourselves, but we must walk faithfully with the One who saves us. We must continue trusting God when the path ahead seems uncertain. We must keep pressing onward with gratitude, obedience, and confidence in His promises, even when fear tempts us to turn back.
The God who redeemed Israel through the sea is the same God who redeems us through Christ. He still fights for His people. He still makes a way where there seems to be no way (1 Corinthians 10:13). And if we continue faithfully with Him, He will one day bring us safely home to the eternal promised land.
