Most Rev. Robert J. McClory was appointed the fifth bishop of Gary on Nov. 26, 2019. Established Dec. 17, 1956, and officially entrusted to the care of Bishop Andrew Grutka on Feb. 25, 1957, the Diocese of Gary has grown to 68 parishes, serving Roman Catholics in Lake, Porter, LaPorte and Starke counties in Northwest Indiana. It counts more than 18,000 students under Catholic instruction in its s

chools and religious education programs. The Most Rev. McClory is the fifth bishop to lead the diocese. NOTE: Comments must be respectful and relate directly to the topic at hand. Bishop McClory visited the team at Catholic Charities Diocese of Gary, who have been processing hundreds of requests for assistance over the past several weeks.

Please join us in continuing prayer for all those affected by the Aug. 11 storms and for everyone who has responded generously to meet the vast needs in our communities.

Last week, Diocese of Gary's Bishop Robert McClory visited Catholic Charities to spend time with our teams who have been working diligently to help our neighbors recover from the recent storms.

At our Gary office, Bishop McClory met with our Community Outreach team, offering his encouragement, support and prayer as they continue responding to families seeking disaster assistance. He then traveled to our Hunger Relief Center in East Chicago, where he visited with staff and offered his prayers for the team serving residents facing food insecurity and storm-related losses.

In the midst of long days and tremendous need, his visit was a meaningful reminder that we do not do this work alone.

We are deeply grateful to Bishop McClory for taking the time to be present with our teams, to listen, to encourage, and most especially, to pray with us.
