St. John's Lutheran Church - Merrick

St. John's Lutheran Church - Merrick The Reverend Perry J. Kirschbaum, Pastor St.

John's is a congregation in the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America (ELCA) - part of the "one, holy, catholic and apostolic church." We worship the holy and blessed Trinity (Father, Son, and Holy Spirit) and share in a rich apostolic heritage in both Word and Sacrament that is catholic, evangelical, and reforming. As baptized disciples of the Lord Jesus Christ, marked with the sign of the holy

cross, we celebrate a "Living Faith" as we worship, pray, study, invite, encourage, serve, and give..."God's Work~Our Hands"

We are proud to once again partner with Thrivent Financial to make a meaningful impact in our community through a Thrivent Action Team service project supporting veterans in need.

Throughout the month of June, we will be collecting new items that will be distributed to local hospitals, nursing homes, and assisted living centers that serve veteran populations. This special outreach is a joint project between Saint John Lutheran Church of Bellmore- Merrick and St. John's Early Childhood Center.

As our nation prepares to celebrate the 250th anniversary of our country, it is especially meaningful to honor and support the brave men and women who have safeguarded our freedoms through their service. We thank our school families and church members for helping us give back to those who have given so much.

Donations may be dropped off at the collection table in the Narthex throughout June or during a special Coffee Hour hosted by the Early Childhood Center on Sunday, June 14

Requested items include:

Entertainment & Activities:

Crossword puzzles, word searches, Sudoku books
Playing cards
Journals
Note cards
Stamps
Personal Care & Hygiene:

Moisturizing lotion
Denture adhesive/denture cleaning tablets
Deodorant
Lip balm
Disposable razors and shave cream
Soft hairbrushes/combs
Clothing & Comfort:

Nonskid socks/diabetic socks
Front-zip hoodies
Cardigans
Elastic waist pants
Washable blankets/lap robes
Thank you for your generosity and support as we serve those who have served our country.

Our Bellmore-Merrick churches are opening our fellowship halls to the community for gatherings that need a peaceful, welcoming setting. The two campuses provide space that is ideal for:
• Memorial or Celebration Get togethers
• Music recitals, choir or theatre rehearsals or acoustic performances
• Community meetings or reflective event
• Support Groups
• Scout and Youth Programs
• Senior Gatherings
• Workshops and Classes
• Nonprofit or volunteer groups
We are committed to being a resource for our neighbors, and we love seeing the space used for activities that strengthen our community. The two halls include comfortable seating, open floor space and a warm, friendly atmosphere that works well for groups of many kinds.
If your organization or group is looking for a reliable, community-minded place to meet, we’d be glad to connect and share details.

Subject: Invitation to Partner in Shared Sanctuary Use
Dear Pastor and Church Leadership,
Grace and peace to you. I pray that your ministry is thriving and that God continues to guide your work in the community.
I am reaching out on behalf of Saint John’s Lutheran Church of Bellmore-Merrick to explore the possibility of partnering with a fellow congregation that may be seeking a sanctuary space for worship, prayer gatherings, or ministry activities. Our church has been blessed with two beautiful, well maintained sanctuaries, and we feel led to open our doors to support another church family that may benefit from shared space.
We believe that collaboration between churches strengthens the body of Christ and expands our collective impact. If your congregation is currently in transition, growing beyond your current facility, or simply exploring new options for worship space, we would welcome a conversation.
Our sanctuary offers:
• Comfortable seating and a warm, reverent atmosphere
• Audio/visual capabilities
• Flexible scheduling options
• A spirit of hospitality and partnership
We are open to discussing short term or long term arrangements, and we approach this with a heart for mutual support rather than transactional convenience.
If this opportunity resonates with your ministry’s needs, we would be glad to connect, answer questions, or schedule a visit to the space.
Thank you for the work you do in the name of Jesus . We look forward to the possibility of serving alongside you.
In Christ’s service,
Saint John’s Lutheran Church of Bellmore-Merrick

We are so grateful for your generous support of our Early Childhood Center's recent service project in partnership with Thrivent Financial. Thanks to your contributions, we were honored to be selected as one of the recipients of a $1,000 grant!

Your willingness to come together to support children’s education by donating school supplies truly made an impact. This effort reflects the strength and compassion of our community, and we couldn’t have done it without you.

Thank you again for helping us make a difference!
