In our recent study on the life and ministry of Jesus we have seen His authority over the natural world, demons, disease and even death. Jesus raises a young girl from the dead and then He goes back to His home town of Nazareth. This is the second time that He goes to Nazareth and He is rejected by the people. In our study of the life and ministry of Jesus we have recently seen His power over the natural and spiritual realms. In this message we will see His absolute authority over disease and even death. He truly is our Deliverer from sin and its terrible consequences.

15 Look, there on the mountains,
the feet of one who brings good news,
who proclaims peace!
Celebrate your festivals, Judah,
and fulfill your vows.
No more will the wicked invade you;
they will be completely destroyed.

This verse in Nahum chapter 1 was written to Israel to let them know that Nineveh and the Assyrian empire would no longer have power over them. Messengers would often go to towns and villages announcing important news from the surrounding hills and mountains to the people. The message God was sending them was one of peace as they were being delivered from the evil and cruelty of the Assyrians. The people of Israel are told to worship the Lord and celebrate.
As I read this verse I was reminded of Zechariah 14 verse 4 where it says "His feet will stand on the mount of Olives", and verse 5 says "Then the Lord My God will come and all His holy ones with Him". And finally in verse 9 "The Lord will be King over the whole earth.
On that day there will be one LORD, and His name the only Name."
Jesus is coming a second time and He will be King over all the earth. On that awesome day when He returns He will destroy the antichrist, the false prophet and all their evil armies. His message will be one of peace to Israel and to all nations. See, He will bring peace to this earth when He comes to rule and reign in righteousness.
But until He returns you can have this peace in your own soul when you turn to Him in faith and let Him rule and reign in your heart. He purchased for us peace with God on the cross, and He gives those who believe in Him the peace of God which passes understanding. We can experience the peace of God even as we face the trials and hardships of this life. Do you long for peace in this world? The only way to have the peace of God is to be at peace with God, and that comes by repenting of your sin and turning to Christ in faith to receive His forgiveness.

In 2 Thessalonians 2:1-12 Paul addresses the second coming of the Lord Jesus Christ. He does this because they had been told that He had already returned and they had missed the rapture. Paul reminds them that he had taught them two things will take place before His second coming to establish the kingdom. First, there would be a great falling away (apostasia in Greek) from the truth. People will turn from the truth of the gospel in mass denying the person and work of Jesus Christ. Second, the man of sin, son of perdition, or antichrist would be revealed. He does this specifically when he enters the Temple of God and declares himself to be god. Jesus tells us in Matthew 24:15 that this act is the abomination of desolation spoken of by Daniel in the book of Daniel 9:27. There was an abomination of desolation which occurred in 168 BC by Antiochus Epiphanes, but that event was not the fulfillment. Jesus said in Matthew 24 that this event would occur shortly before His second coming. Now, 2 Thessalonians chapter 2 verses 5 to 7 tell us that something is holding the antichrist back until it is taken away. I believe the restrainer is the Holy Spirit as He convicts the world of sin, righteousness and the judgement to come. When His restraining influence is removed then antichrist will appear and a great delusion will take hold of mankind. The Bible describes this as a lie that all those who have rejected the truth will believe. That great lie has been growing among the people of the earth for many, many years and most people now already believe it. I have been warning about this lie for many years. This deception will be so great that Jesus said if it were possible even God's elect would be deceived. Incidentally, it is not possible to deceive God's elect with this deception. I want to warn you that this deception is growing and gaining momentum. It may be revealed in the in the near future. Let me warn you not to believe everything that our government or scientist tell you or even show you. 2 Thessalonians says his coming will be with all power, signs and lying wonders. You will recognize this lie when you see it. Look up as our redemption is drawing nearer every day. See less
