Tough Questions Teens ASK?
How Can I Hear God Communicate to Me?
1. Open Your Heart and Be Still
Biblical listening starts with a willing, humble, and distraction‑free heart
Jesus said, “My sheep hear my voice” (John 10:27). Psalm 46:10 commands, “Be still, and know that I am God.” Create quiet moments — turn off noise, pause in prayer, or walk in silence — so you can tune into the “still, small voice” (1 Kings 19:12)
2. Hear Through the Bible
Scripture is “God‑breathed” (2 Timothy 3:16) and the clearest way God speaks today
Read regularly, but also ask, “What is God showing me here?” When a verse stands out, brings comfort, or challenges you, that can be His voice
3. Listen for the Holy Spirit’s Inner Witness
The Spirit speaks through inner convictions, peace, or gentle nudges that align with Scripture
This is not panic or confusion, but calm, consistent guidance.
4. Pray and Wait
Prayer is a two‑way conversation. After speaking to God, pause and reflect — sometimes guidance comes as a Scripture, a thought, or a shift in your heart.
James 1:5 encourages you to ask God for wisdom, and Jeremiah 33:3 promises, “Call to me and I will answer you.”
5. Seek Wise Christian Counsel
God often uses pastors, mature believers, or mentors to confirm His direction.
If several prayerful people point you the same way, it may be His confirmation.
6. Notice Circumstances and Open Doors
Sometimes God guides through opportunities, timely events, or closed doors.
These should never replace Scripture but can be part of His leading.
7. Keep Your Motives Pure
God wants to speak to you, but selfish motives can block clarity . Ask Him to give you openness, humility, and a desire to follow His will
