A New Day at Hawkins UMC

Hawkins Memorial began as a church plant to serve the railroad community in the late 1800s. For more than a century, it served its members and community as a place for people to gather and worship and fellowship together. Beginning this summer, we are entering into a new phase of serving the community. This past fall, in partnership with the Wesley House Community Center, we opened the Helping Hand Community Mission Clothes Closet. Starting on July 1, we are moving our service time to 12 noon on Wednesdays (probably closer to 12:15 because we will be waiting for our pianist) and plan to begin providing a simple meal after service by this fall. The clothes closet will reopen as soon as we can safely do so and when it reopens will move from the third Thursday of each month to the third Wednesday.

There are many ways that we want to help residents on the south side of Meridian, but we need input from the neighborhood on what services are most needed where we can plan our next move. Come on by the fellowship hall on Rubush Ave. behind the church for service on Wednesdays at noon. Guided by the Holy Spirit, we feel led to be the church for people that don’t feel comfortable in, or are unable to attend traditional Sunday Morning services. Come as you are from work or from home, just come and worship our Lord.
