Mercer United Methodist Church We are a caring Christian community. We seek to know God and our neighbor through worship, study, fellowship and service. Sunday worship is at 10:30 a.m.

Our sanctuary is handicapped accessible. Mercer UMC is served by the ministry team of Pastor Karen Merrill and Worship Leader Robin Forbes. Pastor Karen preaches the 1st and 3rd Sunday of each month. She is a local, licensed pastor and a special educator. Karen enjoys gardening, horses, horse racing, dogs, cats, her children and grandchildren as well as reading, hiking and staycations. Her favorit

e scripture is Joshua 24:15: as for me and my family, we serve the Lord. Worship Leader Robin Forbes preaches the 2nd and 4th Sunday of each month. She is a Certified Lay Speaker and currently serves in The Garment of Praise Ministry, a womens’ retreat ministry, where she serves on the Board as well as facilitator, presenter of talks on various subjects relating to faith, and as a small group leader. Finished

Finished.
So final a word,
but what is ever really finished,
accomplished,
completed,
except life itself?

A race run,
a record set,
only serves to herald
the next attempt,
a new champion
and holder of the prize.

But once for all
a death of life,
an obscuring of light
bringing
darkness in its wake,
as a moment of completion
is echoed with finality.
Finished …
the end …
extinguished light …
… but only till a brighter dawn.

To know you in all things

Weave a web of your presence around me today.
Be with my hands as they work.
Be with my eyes as they see.
Be with my ears as they hear.
Be with my tongue as it speaks.
Be with my feelings and my thoughts.
Be with the people I meet.
Be with the things I make.
Be with the decisions I take.
Be in and through,
over and under all,
that doing and hearing and seeing,
speaking and making and being,
I may glimpse your glory,
hear your voice
and joyfully work with you
to create a new heaven and a new earth.

In blessing each other

In blessing each other we bless the invisible God. Being blessed by each other we know, ourselves, the blessing of God. Blessed is everyone who walks in God’s way.

The heartbeat of creation

I love trees: they stand naked in winter, and burst with new life in spring. If you take a stethoscope on a spring walk and look for a young smooth-barked tree, you can hear what sounds like a heartbeat through the stethoscope: The sound of sap being ‘pumped’ against gravity, up the tree to the tips of the leaves. It sounds like our own heartbeat, and I often think of it as the heartbeat of creation.

Accept me as I am

Accept me as I am,
for this is me, it’s all I have to offer.
Accept me as I am,
for what I am is all that I can be.
Accept me as I am,
this gift I bring is all I have to give you.
Accept this life,
the gift I bring is me.
