Forgiven People Forgive People

When you think about forgiveness, do you think first as the offended… or the offender?

Most of us start with the ways we’ve been hurt. And real hurt should never be minimized.

But the Bible starts somewhere deeper: before we were ever offended by others, we were offenders before God.

Ephesians 4:32 reminds us to forgive “just as God also forgave you in Christ.”

Forgiven people forgive people — not because it’s easy, but because grace-filled people give grace away.

Church family,

On Sunday, I mentioned an interview with John Lennox that really impacted me. I need to make a quick correction: I misspoke and said the interview was with Trevor Noah, but it was actually with Steven Bartlett. My bad!

I wanted to send it out because I think it is worth making time to watch it. John Lennox is thoughtful, gracious, and clear as he talks about faith, evidence, and the hope we have in Christ.

As you watch, I’d encourage you to think about 2 Peter 3:15, which calls us to “always be ready to give a defense to anyone who asks you for a reason for the hope that is in you.” We do not need to have every answer to every question, but we should be growing in our ability to speak clearly, humbly, and hopefully about Jesus. We don't need to answer all questions, we need to be able to articulate one question, "why we believe."
