We had some real-life superheroes visit our Red Shield Kids! 🚒❤️

Our local firefighters Merced Fire Dept. stopped by to talk about what they do and all the different ways we can help people in our community.

One of our favorite moments was when a firefighter asked the kids to name other jobs that help people. Without missing a beat, one of our girls yelled, “A Salvation Army worker!” 🥹💗 Our hearts!!

They’re watching, they’re learning, and they’re seeing what serving others looks like.

We also talked about the Armor of God in Ephesians 6:10–18 and how God gives us what we need to be strong, courageous, and help others. 🛡️

Last Sunday was a special one at The Salvation Army Merced! ❤️

Captain Kailah Kim officially enrolled our Corps Council members as they stepped into a deeper commitment to lead, serve and strengthen our church and community.

We’re so excited to see how God works through each of them in this new season of service! Please join us in celebrating our Corps Council and keeping them in your prayers.

Our Merced kids are on a roll! 🛼 Thanks to a generous grant from Central Valley Community Foundation Central Valley Opportunity Fund, our Youth Development Program recently went on their first outing and had a blast rollerblading together!

This support is opening the door to more experiences for local kids, giving them opportunities to get out, try something new, build friendships and make memories together. We’re so thankful for partners who invest in our kids and help make days like this possible!

🔥 What an AMAZING National Night Out! 🔥
This year we doubled the fun by serving our community at Applegate Park and Commons Apartments! 💙❤️
Even though the temperatures were HOT, our team was out sharing free water, smiles, encouragement, and hope. We had so many wonderful conversations, introduced families to all the programs and services available at The Salvation Army Merced Corps, and shared how people can volunteer, give, support, and pray for our ministry.
The best part? We made new friends, welcomed several new families who signed up for Red Shield Kids, and loved seeing so many of our current Red Shield Kids stop by to say hello!
Thank you to everyone who helped make this night a success. We are grateful to be part of this incredible community and can't wait to continue serving our neighbors at 1440 W. 12th Street.

Last night, one of our Youth Development Program kids, Ivy, was riding her bike home with the biggest smile. She told us she’s proud to be part of The Salvation Army and that she loves Jesus. Moments like these remind us that we’re building more than after-school programs. We’re building confidence, friendships, and a place where kids can grow, belong, and thrive.

We’re grateful to serve families across Merced, California, one child at a time. ❤️
