In case you missed it in Wednesday's GPconnect e-newsletter, here is some news from the appointive cabinet:

Bishop David Wilson has announced a change in the appointive cabinet, effective Aug. 1.
Rev. Karen Rice Ratzlaff, North Central Kansas District superintendent, has been appointed to serve Trinity Heights United Methodist Church in Newton, Kan. She will succeed Rev. Kent Little, who is moving to Manhattan College Avenue UMC.
"It has been an honor to serve under the leadership of Bishop Wilson and to experience his call to an episcopal ministry that God has long shaped for him through the faithfulness of his ancestors, and to be in covenant with a great team of district superintendents who bring so many perspectives and gifts to our missional connection,” Rice Ratzlaff said.
"I am so grateful for all I have learned from the pastors and churches in the former Hutchinson and Salina districts and in the new North Central Kansas District. I have been inspired by their faithfulness, dedication, and the ways they care for one another,” she continued. “I love how each congregation strives to be a witness of the light and love of Jesus Christ where they live every day. Hoping to return to a pastoral appointment again after serving as a DS, I have been taking mental notes of all the good I have seen and experienced in pastoral and lay leadership, and I hope to bring some of that wisdom with me.”
Bishop Wilson praised the leadership Rice Ratzlaff, who was appointed to the cabinet in 2021.
“Karen has a great love for Christ and the Church. She is a great listener and leads with compassion and grace,” Bishop Wilson said. "I am grateful for the years we worked together on the Cabinet and look forward to her continued ministry at Trinity Heights.
"Her great work is evident in the district as they are doing effective ministry throughout that region of our conference,” the bishop continued. "I know she is looking forward to serving the local church and she will do very well."
Bishop Wilson said the North Central District will be covered by Western Kansas District Superintendent Rev. Zach Anderson and South Central Kansas District Superintendent Rev. Dr. Kalaba Chali until further notice.
Rice Ratzlaff said her passion has remained with the local church and that she looks forward to getting started at Trinity Heights UMC.
"Trinity Heights UMC is a congregation of leaders I have admired over the years when our paths have crossed, and I am delighted about this appointment,” she said. "I am looking forward to enjoying the God-given gifts I will find in this congregation and stepping into the next chapter of ministry with them."
