Tom and Cheryl Ek have three adult children (each of them in Covenant ministry, and all in Michigan), two daughters-in-law, two granddaughters, one grandson, two grand-cats, two grand-dogs, and two cats of their own. Cheryl is a retired Registered Nurse. Tom is a retired Covenant pastor, having served three churches over the course of 40 years before retiring in 2021. Since then, they have been on the road a lot, visiting family and all their churches. Also, Tom has served as Interim Pastor on weekends for two Covenant churches (in succession), each three hours away. This month, Cheryl and Tom are delighted to be part of things at Community Covenant to help facilitate the first part of Pastor Linnea’s Sabbatical.

A message from our first Sabbatical Preacher, Pastor Rob Lowe:

I am a Husband to Jen, dad to Miguel and Isabella. I was called to ministry during my childhood and have served both youth and adults since college. Jen and I were ordained together in 2011, while serving in Dowagiac as co-pastors after seminary. Today, I serve as a chaplain at the Marshfield Clinic and teach History at UWSP. I am a grateful member of Community Covenant and thankful to be with you this Sunday.

What a beautiful reminder:
Not everything blooms immediately.

Some promises take time.
Some prayers grow underground before we ever see results.
Some seasons require patience before breakthrough comes.

Some seasons require patience before a breakthrough comes.
Keep growing in faith.
God is not finished yet.

Sometimes the hardest part of faith is waiting.

Waiting for healing.
Waiting for answers.
Waiting for God to move.
Waiting for Jesus to return.

But Peter reminds us:
God is patient because he wants people to come to repentance and know his love.

What feels like delay to us may actually be mercy.
