Lust is one of the most destructive forces in family relationships. It turns people into objects rather than pursuing the trust and knowing of our spouse God wants us to experience through sexual intimacy. Adultery, po*******hy and all sexual sin must be cut completely out of our lives. There is no other way to have a healthy, stable family.

Anger erodes trust and destroys families. While anger itself may be a natural defense mechanism, what we do with our anger is often sinful and harmful. We justify our unchecked anger even as it consumes us, damaging relationships and our own hearts. We can’t build our home on solid ground when everyone in our family is walking on eggshells.

Relationships will always get tested, and for that reason they need to be strengthened. Like a house going through a storm, when the wind and rain hit, what matters most is the foundation it is built on. In difficult seasons it is not about the trim, the paint color, or how trendy it looks. It is about whether the structure underneath is solid. As we start this new series, the goal is to ensure our closest relationships are built on solid ground, ready for whatever tests come their way.

Are you worshiping God or a version of God you’ve made for yourself? We might not blatantly turn away from God, but we subtly try to turn him into something he’s not. We reshape him to fit our personal preferences, treating him as a genie we can control and who exists mainly to give us the things we want. The true God won't be changed, but he will change us.

Most of us are too busy and trying to do too much. We never have enough time…or do we? God has given us all of the time we need to do what he calls us to do. The Sabbath is God’s invitation to stop striving and rediscover rest, not as a burden but as a blessing that restores our souls and relationships.

You were created to know God. At the deepest level, we spend our lives trying and failing to make ourselves acceptable to him. The Law reveals the reason for our separation: sinful hearts that keep us standing at a distance from a holy God. The good news: Jesus died to make us righteous and restore our access to God’s presence. We can draw near because of his grace!
