Today we honor Our Lady of Sorrows, remembering Mary standing faithfully at the foot of the Cross.

St. Bernard of Clairvaux reflected that while the nails pierced the hands and feet of Jesus, the suffering of His Passion pierced the heart of His Mother.

Mary could not take away Jesus’ suffering. She could not fix what was happening.

She simply stayed with Him.

Our Lady of Sorrows reminds us that sometimes the greatest act of love is simply to remain beside someone in their suffering.

Our Lady of Sorrows, pray for us.

Peter asked Jesus how many times he had to forgive.

Jesus answered: “Not seven times, but seventy-seven times.”

The point wasn’t the number. It was to tell us to stop counting.

St. John Chrysostom taught that Christ was calling us to forgiveness that is continual and without limit.

Mercy doesn’t keep score.

“Forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us.”

Today we celebrate the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary.

St. Andrew of Crete wrote, “May all creation overflow with happiness.”

Mary’s birth was the quiet beginning of something extraordinary. Through her, Christ would come into the world and the dawn of our salvation would begin.

Today, we rejoice with all creation and thank God for the gift of Mary.

Our Lady, pray for us.

Today we celebrate St. Teresa of Calcutta. She once said:

“God still loves the world and He sends you and me to be His love and His compassion to the poor.”

It can be easy to admire Mother Teresa from a distance, to see her extraordinary life and think, I could never do that.

But her message was much simpler: God sends each of us to love the person in front of us.

We may never serve in the streets of Calcutta, but every day we encounter people who need kindness, compassion, patience, and mercy.

Holiness begins there.

St. Teresa of Calcutta, pray for us!
