Good Morning Special Friends, parents, caregivers...and all who pop in on this site!

We have had a sort of rocky road this Fall. I've not been well, and then the weather messed us up. We will be back next week...not this week because there is more bitter weather predicted, and we weren't scheduled to meet, so I decided we would stick with the schedule as much as possible.

We will be back on January 26 at 4:30.

We have a few openings for new members, so if you know of someone who would like to visit and see if they want to join, have them get in touch with me.

I really appreciate all of those who have been diligent about RSVPs! It helps me so much to know how many will be with us!

See you on the 26th when we will have some fun activities. Love to all, Ms. Janie

Well, I'm having trouble posting, but this is
National Disability Employment month, and I would like to praise Superlo Foods for giving Walker over 25 Years of employment. His bosses have been kind and understanding while he learned the ropes, and is now focused on being "Professional"! One of his former bosses rescued the Superlo stained glass from demolition of one of the stores, for renovation, I think, and gave it to Walker. Many thanks to all the Stephersons to every other employees who make hiring those with disabilities work!

I was just reminded that this is National Disability Employment Awareness Month, and I have to give a shout out to my son who has worked at Superlo for 25 Years and to Superlo Foods on Spottswood. I took this picture this morning just as he was about to go to work, looking very "Professional", which is his goal for everything lately. We owe a huge debt of gratitude of Randy Stepherson who hired Walker so long ago, and patiently endured the ups and downs of Walker adjusting to the workplace. He has had several excellent bosses since then, all of whom have been so supportive. One of them rescued the stained glass store sign from some renovations in one of the stores and presented it to Walker recently. Such good people!

Attention parents/guardians of Special Needs adults in the Memphis area!

Special Friends Fellowship Club is going to have a few openings in the Fall for both boys and girls. If your young adult might be interested in joining our group, please contact me for an application at [email protected]. We meet on Sunday afternoons from 4:30-6:30 from September until May. Our location is at All Saint's Episcopal Church on White Station Road, near Quince.

We also welcome volunteers into our program. If you are a high school or college student and would like the best volunteer opportunity EVER, please contact us. We love having song leaders, helpers in the kitchen, and arts and crafts help.

We also appreciate visiting clergy to give our little "sermonettes" at chapel. We are a project of the Episcopal Diocese of West Tennessee, but welcome those of all faiths.
