The Temple Church of God in Christ

Temple Church Of God In Chirst began its impactful ministry in 1910 under the inspired and capable leadership of Bishop Charles Harrison Mason, the founder and organizer of Church Of God In Christ, Inc. Bishop Mason later purchased property located at 672 South Lauderdale Street, (our present location). Therefore, signaling the beginning of our congregation's love for the building known as the

"Old Temple". For years the building on the corner of Lauderdale and Georgia Streetwas referred to as the "The Mother Church", where Saints' testimonies of individuals healed from wheelchairs, delivered from drugs, and set free from the devil rang throughout the Temple and the city of Memphis. The Temple served the national Church Of God In Christ organization as its official headquarters after the burning of the "Tabernacle"and before the completion of "Mason Temple". During this time the Saints utilized the building at Lauderdale and Georgia as the national gathering place. In 1958 fire destroyed the original structure. The new buidling was completed in 1961 and is currently pastored by Bishop David Allen Hall, Sr. The Temple has had an illustrious leadership throughout its history.
