Read: Joshua 7
Joshua 7:1 KJV But the children of Israel committed a trespass in the accursed thing: for Achan, the son of Carmi, the son of Zabdi, the son of Zerah, of the tribe of Judah, took of the accursed thing: and the anger of the LORD was kindled against the children of Israel.

Dr. Richard Skinner, who recently entered into Glory, gave us the best outline on the story of Achan.

Joshua 5:13-15 KJV And it came to pass, when Joshua was by Jericho, that he lifted up his eyes and looked, and, behold, there stood a man over against him with his sword drawn in his hand: and Joshua went unto him, and said unto him, Art thou for us, or for our adversaries? (14) And he said, Nay; but AS CAPTAIN OF THE HOST OF THE LORD AM I NOW COME. And Joshua fell on his face to the earth, and did worship, and said unto him, What saith my lord unto his servant? (15) And the captain of the LORD'S host said unto Joshua, Loose thy shoe from off thy foot; for the place whereon thou standest is holy. And Joshua did so.

[I need the Lord to fight for me. I am hopeless, helpless, and hapless outside of Christ. Without Him, my life would be constant defeat. With Him, I can do all things, because it is not me, but Christ in me.]

"The significance of this vision to ourselves. We sometimes feel lonely and discouraged. The hosts with which we are accustomed to co-operate are resting quietly in their tents. No one seems able to enter into our anxieties and plans. Our Jerichos are so formidable—the neglected parish, the empty church, the hardened congregation, the godless household. How can we ever capture these, and hand them over to the Lord, like dismantled castles, for Him to occupy? That problem at first baffles us, and appears insoluble. Then we vow it shall be untied, and summon all our wit and energy to solve it. We study the methods of others and copy them; deliver our best addresses and sermons, put forth herculean exertions. We adopt exciting advertisements and questionable methods, borrowed from the world. Suppose Israel had taken lessons in scaling walls and taking fenced cities from the Canaanites! Or that the people had made an attack on Jericho with might and main, determined to find or make a breach! Finally, in our hours of disappointment, when we have tried our best in vain, and have fallen, as the sea birds who dash themselves against the lighthouse tower fall to the foot with broken wing, it is well to go forth alone, confessing our helplessness, and tarrying for the vision, for we shall then be likeliest to see the Captain of the Lord’s host. He will undertake our cause, He will marshal His troops and win the day, He will fling the walls of Jericho to the ground." (F. B. Meyer, B. A.) Biblical Illustrator

Joshua 5:10-12 KJV And the children of Israel encamped in Gilgal, and kept the passover on the fourteenth day of the month at even in the plains of Jericho. (11) And they did eat of the old corn of the land on the morrow after the passover, unleavened cakes, and parched corn in the selfsame day. (12) And the manna ceased on the morrow after they had eaten of the old corn of the land; neither had the children of Israel manna any more; but they did eat of the fruit of the land of Canaan that year.

"If the gifts of God depended on man’s faith, the manna would have vanished very quickly. But day after day, through fret and sin and cowardice, God held to His purpose, as He always does; for the long-suffering of God is our salvation." (Great Texts of the Bible)

"The manna was the best possible preparation to answer the nomadic life of the wilderness, where there was no land to sow or reap; but when the land of promise was reached, where there was plenty of ground, and that needing to be tilled, to send down manna from heaven would surely lead to a life of sloth and excess. Therefore, the old corn of the land was better than the manna in such a country; and when the manna ceased, it was because God had better provisions to meet the new circumstances of His people." (Great Texts of the Bible)

"God therefore engaged to give them what they could not provide for themselves. He who said that if we seek first the Kingdom of God and His righteousness all other things that we truly need will be given to us, furnished a remarkable illustration of the truth of the promise in the experience of the Israelites." (Great Texts of the Bible)

Joshua 5:1-9 KJV And it came to pass, when all the kings of the Amorites, which were on the side of Jordan westward, and all the kings of the Canaanites, which were by the sea, heard that the LORD had dried up the waters of Jordan from before the children of Israel, until we were passed over, that their heart melted, neither was there spirit in them any more, because of the children of Israel. (2) At that time the LORD said unto Joshua, Make thee sharp knives, and circumcise again the children of Israel the second time. (3) And Joshua made him sharp knives, and circumcised the children of Israel at the hill of the foreskins. (4) And this is the cause why Joshua did circumcise: All the people that came out of Egypt, that were males, even all the men of war, died in the wilderness by the way, after they came out of Egypt. (5) Now all the people that came out were circumcised: but all the people that were born in the wilderness by the way as they came forth out of Egypt, them they had not circumcised. (6) For the children of Israel walked forty years in the wilderness, till all the people that were men of war, which came out of Egypt, were consumed, because they obeyed not the voice of the LORD: unto whom the LORD sware that he would not shew them the land, which the LORD sware unto their fathers that he would give us, a land that floweth with milk and honey. (7) And their children, whom he raised up in their stead, them Joshua circumcised: for they were uncircumcised, because they had not circumcised them by the way. (8) And it came to pass, when they had done circumcising all the people, that they abode in their places in the camp, till they were whole. (9) And the LORD said unto Joshua, This day have I rolled away the reproach of Egypt from off you. Wherefore the name of the place is called Gilgal unto this day.

209 June Drive in Ball, Louisiana is my "Gilgal." That is where God circumcised my heart, and delivered me from the penalty and power of sin. One day, I will be delivered from the presence of sin. Hallelujah!

Where is your Gilgal? Surely, you remember that day.

Joshua 3:1-5 KJV And Joshua rose early in the morning; and they removed from Sh*ttim, and came to Jordan, he and all the children of Israel, and lodged there before they passed over. (2) And it came to pass after three days, that the officers went through the host; (3) And they commanded the people, saying, When ye see the ark of the covenant of the LORD your God, and the priests the Levites bearing it, then ye shall remove from your place, and go after it. (4) Yet there shall be a space between you and it, about two thousand cubits by measure: come not near unto it, that ye may know the way by which ye must go: for ye have not passed this way heretofore. (5) And Joshua said unto the people, SANCTIFY YOURSELVES: for to morrow the LORD will do wonders among you.
---Sanctify yourselves!!!
Set yourselves apart; from the world; from sin; from anything not of God, exalting Jesus in word and deed. You must be sanctified if revival will come. If you are expecting God to do wonders among you today, then SANCTIFY YOURSELVES!

Joshua 2:16-21 KJV And she said unto them, Get you to the mountain, lest the pursuers meet you; and hide yourselves there three days, until the pursuers be returned: and afterward may ye go your way. (17) And the men said unto her, We will be blameless of this thine oath which thou hast made us swear. (18) Behold, when we come into the land, thou shalt bind this line of SCARLET THREAD in the window which thou didst let us down by: and thou shalt bring thy father, and thy mother, and thy brethren, and all thy father's household, home unto thee. (19) And it shall be, that whosoever shall go out of the doors of thy house into the street, his blood shall be upon his head, and we will be guiltless: and whosoever shall be with thee in the house, his blood shall be on our head, if any hand be upon him. (20) And if thou utter this our business, then we will be quit of thine oath which thou hast made us to swear. (21) And she said, According unto your words, so be it. And she sent them away, and they departed: and she bound the SCARLET LINE in the window.

Was Rahab the original "Scarlet Woman?" She was a harlot. Surely, she lived an immoral lifestyle. However, it was not worse than some of us have lived. She was saved by faith, in spite of her station in life. We are saved by faith, in spite of the lives we have lived. God does not care very much about what we used to be. He cares infinitly more about who and what we are now. We can appreciate that it was a "Scarlet Thread." God's Word says that our sins are scarlet. (Isaiah 1:18 KJV) "Come now, and let us reason together, saith the LORD: though your sins be as scarlet, they shall be as white as snow; though they be red like crimson, they shall be as wool." It does not matter how scarlet, your life has been, come to Jesus and let Him make you "whiter than snow," just like He did Rahab.

Joshua 1:4-9 KJV From the wilderness and this Lebanon even unto the great river, the river Euphrates, all the land of the Hittites, and unto the great sea toward the going down of the sun, shall be your coast. (5) There shall not any man be able to stand before thee all the days of thy life: as I was with Moses, so I WILL BE WITH THEE: I will not fail thee, nor forsake thee. (6) Be strong and of a good courage: for unto this people shalt thou divide for an inheritance the land, which I sware unto their fathers to give them. (7) Only be thou strong and very courageous, that thou mayest observe to do according to all the law, which Moses my servant commanded thee: turn not from it to the right hand or to the left, that thou mayest prosper whithersoever thou goest. (8) This book of the law shall not depart out of thy mouth; but thou shalt meditate therein day and night, that thou mayest observe to do according to all that is written therein: for then thou shalt make thy way prosperous, and then thou shalt have good success. (9) Have not I commanded thee? Be strong and of a good courage; be not afraid, neither be thou dismayed: for THE LORD THY GOD IS WITH THEE whithersoever thou goest.

I will be with thee!
The Lord thy God is with thee!
Be Strong and Courageous!
Don't be afraid, GOD is with you!
Stay true to the WORD!
Stay in the WORD!

Joshua 1:1-3 KJV Now after the death of Moses the servant of the LORD it came to pass, that the LORD spake unto Joshua the son of Nun, Moses' minister, saying, (2) Moses my servant is dead; now therefore ARISE, GO over this Jordan, thou, and all this people, unto the land which I do give to them, even to the children of Israel. (3) Every place that the sole of your foot shall tread upon, that have I given unto you, as I said unto Moses.

God tells Joshua to "Get up, and Go." The time for grieving is over, Get up and Go. There is a land to conquer, Get up and Go. There is a people, who need you, Get up, and Go. I will be with you, all the way, Get up, and Go.

Christian, Get up, and Go!
