Like the boy in the crowd who placed his five loaves and two fish into the hands of Jesus, the Fishes and Loaves Ministry has offered what it had, trusting Christ to do what only He can do with surrendered gifts. And just as Jesus “had compassion on the crowd, because they were like sheep without a shepherd” (Mark 6:34), this ministry has allowed compassion—not convenience—to dictate its response.
Each second Saturday of the month, without applause or announcement, tables are set and hands are extended. More than 100 neighbors—displaced, struggling, weary—are fed. Bellies are filled, but so are hearts. Needs are met, dignity is preserved, and hope is quietly restored.
This is ministry modeled after Christ Himself—who did not broadcast His mercy, but embodied it. Jesus fed the hungry before He taught the crowds, reminding us that the gospel is not only proclaimed with words but demonstrated through love. “When He took the loaves… He gave thanks, broke them, and gave them to the disciples to set before the people. And they all ate and were satisfied” (Luke 9:16–17).
For three years, the Fishes and Loaves Ministry has lived out that same rhythm—giving thanks, breaking bread, and serving faithfully—trusting that obedience matters more than recognition. No fanfare. No spotlight. Just consistent faithfulness.
This is the mission of Christ in motion:
feeding the hungry, caring for the overlooked, and proving that when love is placed in Jesus’ hands, it is always enough.
“Let us not grow weary in doing good, for in due season we will reap, if we do not give up” (Galatians 6:9).
