The Word In Life Christian Church (also known as “The Word”) was formally organized on Tuesday, March 18, 2003 under the sanction of God and the pastorate of Rev. Netters, Sr., her family members, and her friends that God had told her that He was elevating her to the calling of “Pastor” and she was to organize a church. Obedient to the call of God, Rev. Mosby was encouraged by those close to her t
o pursue God’s call, and was given commitments by some who would become founding members of the Church. A group of family members and friends met together and prayed to God for direction. After much prayer and meditation, Rev. Mosby, along with her three sons (Bro. Michael Mosby, and Bro. Maurice Mosby), her sister (Minister Jacqueline Hobbs), and a friend (Minister Toni Jones), met on March 13, 2003, adopted a resolution, and accepted the name of the Church as being “The Word In Life Christian Church”, as submitted by Rev. On March 18, 2003, a church organizational service was held at Mt. Vernon Baptist Church – Westwood (620 Parkrose Avenue, Memphis, TN., 38109), spear-headed by Dr. Netters, on behalf of formalizing “The Word”. The “Organizational Council” gave the right hand of fellowship to the aforementioned six charter members of “The Word” with the adoption of the Church Covenant and the Articles of Faith. The first regular worship service for “The Word” was held on Sunday, March 23, 2003 at 4022 Wisteria Drive (home of Pastor Mosby). The sermon was “Now Faith” from Hebrews 11:1-8. Two new members were added to the fold on that date, with one being a candidate for baptism. Since then, the church membership has grown and other persons have come forth to confess that Jesus Christ is their Saviour and they desired to be baptized. In May of 2004, a prophecy was fulfilled when Pastor Mosby was honored to ordain three ministers: Rev. Juanita Briggs, Rev. Jacqueline Hobbs, and Rev. Toni Jones. The prophecy was spoken into Pastor Mosby’s life that she would be blessed to ordain her sister, Rev. Jacqueline Hobbs, and we thank God for the manifestation of His Word. On Wednesday, March 2, 2005, we began a new era in our history by acquiring the Chapel of the Whitehaven Presbyterian Church located at 1005 E. Shelby Dr., as a new place of worship. The first service in our sanctuary was held on Sunday, March 6, 2005 with the sermon being “Forging Ahead In Faith”, taken from the scripture Genesis 12:1-5. Later, that year, in November, “The Word” began an association with Parkway Gardens United Church (who had acquired these premises from Whitehaven Presbyterian Church). On Sunday, July 18, 2010, yet another chapter in “The Word’s” pilgrimage was started as we began worshipping in the Multi-Purpose Center of Mt. Vernon Baptist Church (Westwood) located at 620 Parkrose Avenue. We view this new start as a "lay-over" that has been designed and orchestrated by the Holy Ghost. We have been blessed thus far during this “Holy Ghost layover”, and shall receive many, many more blessings while here at this location. With this in mind, we don’t mind waiting on the Lord to tell us that it's time to continue our flight. Not only will we receive hundred-fold blessings during this "lay-over", we shall also be blessed to be a blessing to many. We are excited and extremely grateful to God for the work He has done through our ministry. We also thank Him, in advance, for the manifestation of the souls and other blessings that are destined for this ministry as we continue to “forge ahead by faith”. We are really looking forward to this "lay-over" being over and to the acquisition of that place which will be a permanent place of worship for us, The Word in Life Christian Church. Yes, we are moving forward by faith, remembering all that the Lord has done for us within these 9 years, and being so very grateful to Him for it all.
