Announcement: New Editorial Leadership for The Spiritual Sword
The Spiritual Sword is pleased to announce that Allen Webster has been appointed as the new editor of the journal, following the passing of beloved longtime editor, Alan E. Highers.

Brother Highers not only guided The Spiritual Sword for thirty-five years with unwavering dedication to biblical truth and doctrinal soundness, but also took thoughtful steps to ensure a smooth transition for the future. He personally selected Brother Webster as his successor and prepared him for this role, confident that the journal would remain a trusted voice for Bible study and faithfulness to the Word.

In addition, Mike Hixson will serve as the Associate Editor. Mike works with the Spiritual Sword podcast and has a longtime connection to both Alan Highers and the Spiritual Sword. The Spiritual Sword is overseen by the elders of the East Ridge church of Christ in the greater Chattanooga, Tennessee area, who took the reins when the Getwell congregation in Memphis, Tennessee, ceased meeting in 2023.

Together, Webster and Hixson will carry forward the legacies of former editors Thomas B. Warren and Alan Highers. The mission of The Spiritual Sword remains unchanged: to use "the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God" (Ephesians 6:17) to stand, teach, and defend the gospel of Christ.

Thank you to all who came to Getwell Church of Christ on October 29 for our final day of services. Many faces from the past were there, lots of memories were recalled and many tears shed. While Getwell Church of Christ will no longer exist as a congregation of the Lord's church, the works done by Getwell will continue to live on. House to House, Heart to Heart is continuing The Spiritual Sword journal and the lectureship. Olive Branch Church of Christ is continuing The Truth in Love (the longest running religious radio program in Memphis) radio program.

Please keep all the members from Getwell in your prayers as each one now searches for a new congregation to be a part of.

The elders announced this morning that Getwell Church of Christ is closing. Our last day of worship will be Sunday October 29th. Please make plans to join us on our last day.

House to House, Heart to Heart will be taking over the Spiritual Sword. They will be continuing the lectureship in 2024. Details to be released soon.

We are just days away from the 47th annual Spiritual Sword Lectureship, Powerful Passages of the Pentateuch. Sunday we will begin with Bradley Smith at 9:30 followed by Alan E. Highers at 10:20. Sunday evening we will have congregational singing at 6:30 followed by Dave Miller at 7:00 and Jeff Miller at 8:00. We are looking forward toseeing everyone.
