Topped off our week at by volunteering at meeting the Beale St Flippers, and trying out Ethiopian food! It’s been a week full of new experiences in our own back yard. We’ve talked about some tough topics like poverty, suffering, and pursuing justice. We reject the idea of “us and them” because we are ALL bearers of the Imago Dei. We can’t wait to keep loving the 901!

It took a lot of energy to get through the mid week slump but we are thriving! Started the morning with jazzercize, hanging with the kids at street ministries, learning more about the restoration in the Orange Mound community at . We had some amazing soul food at Alcenias with surprise guest, K.Riker and ended out the day joining the youth of New Direction church for their summer kick off worship and carnival! We are tired but taking it all in!

Today we worked in the community garden at Green Leaf Learning Farm and then headed downtown for lunch with found friends who are experiencing homelessness. We spent some time reflecting on what it might be like to be homeless in downtown Memphis. We spent today talking and thinking about justice. Where might God be calling you to pursue justice?

Finished out our first full day of with Brazilian steak, vespers at the Greek Orthodox Church, and of course, Cookout!

Beyond thankful for this crew and all their help at VBS this week. They had great attitudes and loved on the littles. We worked hard in the mornings and played harder in the afternoons! I love hanging out with these humans!
