The Dr. Jonathan Rodgers Memorial Melchizedek Church in Kowlepalli, India.
Before Dad passed away the Lord had began dealing with me and grooming me for something that I couldn't quite put my hand on. I had several conversations with Dad seeking a better understanding of what I was going through. Having heard so many times from so many people that one of Dad's boys would follow him into ministry, I wasn't sure if this was it...the moment so many people had proclaimed over my life. Well, the day Dad passed away, he and I were talking, not knowing that this would be the last bit of advice he'd every give to me, he told me how proud he was of me and to stay sincere, stay focused on God and stay willing. He went on to advise me not to get in any hurry to become something that may not be meant for me...just wait on God he told me. ' God will prepare you for where he wants you and prepare that place for you.' He also advised for me to start right at the point God already had me...utilizing the resources that had already been given to me. So now let's rewind to when God first began renovating my life...at this time I only had 300-350 friends on Facebook. During this spiritual transforming, I literally woke up one morning to 3,000 Facebook friend requests. I was amazed and confused as to why so many people wanted to be my friend. As the days went by, I slowly sifted through all of those requests and now had nearly 3,500 friends on Facebook. Not knowing it at the time, but God was creating my audiences and putting people in front of me that either needed my help or were to help me.
Shortly after Dad's passing I began to have a burning desire to continue his legacy of worldwide evangelism ministry. With no formal seminary I questioned the ideas that were so vivid to me. Y'all...that's when the Holy Spirit spoke and reminded me of all those overnight friend requests and said..."just be you". The next day I began forming the Hearts of Christ United Ministry, which at the time I thought was to help people that were experiencing hardships due to the Covid pandemic. As we began to offer support and relief to people all over the world, God was strategically moving key players (from that massive pool of overnight friend requests) into place. The need for support and relief was so great that we couldn't keep up with handling the distribution efforts alone. We began partnering with churches and ministries to handle their respective areas. It was through this partnering that God led me to a few chosen ministries that I was to help. Surprisingly, although located in different counties, their ministries and style of teaching reminded me of how Dad preached and taught. Pastor Vijay Philip reached out to the HOC United and requested support for the native people there in his area of India. We began to message each other and talk about God and ministry and he told me how the area where he resides is populated with people who primarily practice Hindi religion. He told me that in one village there were 20,000 people who practice the Hindi Religion. Then one day he wouldn't stop enquiring about Dad and his ministry. As I shared Dad's biography with him, he was fascinated and expressed his admiration for Dad. Pastor Philip prophesied that I would continue Dad's legacy as a soul winner for the Kingdom of Heaven. Let me break it down for you...you don't have to be "The Star" to be "A Star". We see this in professional sports, the corporate arena, the military, etc. You can become an "MVP" through simply assisting. You may not be the best basketball shooter, but if you can get the ball to the shooter...that counts! You may not be a corporate VP, but when you help them to be well prepared for a presentation/meeting ( Cherelyn Cherey Rodgers )...that counts! You may not be a frontline soldier, but if you're flying the helicopter that takes them in and brings them out...that counts! Not to say what God has planned for me on tomorrow, but today I'm instructed to support. I'm staying sincere, focused and willing. It's 20,000 lost souls that God wanted Pastor Philip to evangelize and my job was to assist. I'm truly humbled by this experience. You will never know what you're capable of until you take the little you have and offer it tio God...
Special thanks to Pastor Philip, his family and friends for their support in overseeing this project as this will be the proud new home of his ministry. Thanks to everyone who made donations and to those that kept us and this project in your prayers. I'd also like to say thanks to Mother Flora Rodgers and my sisters (especially Kathleen Rodgers ) for their encouragement, participation and prayers.
There will be a grand opening ceremony and worship service, however, due to India still being in lockdown because of Covid restrictions the date has not been set yet. Please stay on alert for updates/announcements for the Facebook Live viewing of the opening ceremony and worship service.
