For the soldiers who kissed their families goodbye and never returned home.
For the young men and women who traded their futures so others could have freedom.
For the empty chairs at dinner tables.
For the folded flags resting in trembling hands.
For the mothers who still cry in silence.
For the children who grew up only hearing stories about their hero.
Some gave their last hug without knowing it would be the last.
Some prayed one final prayer in the middle of chaos.
Some died far from home so their loved ones could sleep in peace.
And while words could never fully honor such sacrifice, today we remember them with grateful hearts.
The Bible reminds us:
“Greater love has no one than this: to lay down one’s life for one’s friends.” — John 15:13 🇺🇸
Their courage reflects a glimpse of sacrificial love the kind of love that gives without asking for anything in return.
And to every family carrying grief today, please know this: God sees every tear you cry.
“He heals the brokenhearted and binds up their wounds.” — Psalm 147:3
If today feels heavy, if memories feel overwhelming, if loss still aches after all these years, you are not alone. The Lord walks closely with those who mourn.
“The Lord is near to the brokenhearted and saves the crushed in spirit.” — Psalm 34:18
Today, at OUR Village Church, we honor the fallen.
We remember their names.
We remember their sacrifice.
And we pray we never become so busy that we forget the price that was paid for the freedoms we hold today.
May we live with deeper gratitude.
May we love more selflessly.
May we carry compassion for those who grieve.
And may we never stop honoring the heroes who gave everything.
Today, we remember.
Today, we honor.
Today, we pray. 🇺🇸🕊️
