This Sunday is a National Prayer Day. This is a clip of it’s description: “President Trump has announced on May 17, 2026, on the National Mall in Washington, D.C., to rededicate the United States as "One Nation Under God" for its 250th anniversary. This event, dubbed a National Jubilee of Prayer, focuses on repentance, reformation, and returning the nation to Judeo-Christian values.”
George Washington set the precedent for national prayer acknowledging God's role in the nation's founding.
Abraham Lincoln, in 1863, established a proclamation for a day of humility, fasting, and prayer, stating that "those nations only are blessed whose God is the Lord".
Ronald Reagan established the first Thursday of May as the National Day of Prayer in 1988.
