The Lutheran Church began in the 1500's as a reforming movement which sought to restore the centrality of the Bible, faith, and grace within the Roman Catholic Church. Lutherans share a common faith with other Christians, but proclaim God's message by emphasizing justification by faith, living in the freedom of Christian love, and not confusing law and gospel. We believe that through the waters of baptism, God comes to us to adopt us as God's children. Through baptism, God gives the gift of new life. We affirm the baptism of infants. We believe that through the Lord's Supper of bread and wine, God comes to love us and to forgive us. Jesus is present in the meal.
