The church liturgical calendar places us in what is called "Ordinary Time," the season between Pentecost and Advent - representing the ordered, day-to-day life of the Church as believers wait and prepare for the return of Christ both now and in the "not yet."

Join us in this series "Along the Way: Exploring God in the Ordinary," as we dive into the lectionary texts from Genesis & Matthew's Gospel in these weeks leading up to mid-August.

Protect Our Wetlands: Local Action, Statewide Impact

Do you ever wonder what's really happening to the Everglades β€” and what any of us can actually do about it? This month, we have a remarkable speaker who will answer exactly that.

The Conradina Chapter of the Florida Native Plant Society is thrilled to welcome Melissa Fernandez-de-Cespedes, Executive Director of the Florida Native Plant Society, for an engaging and deeply personal look at South Florida's most vital ecosystems.

A native Floridian with a doctorate in Pathology and a Master of Science in Environmental Chemistry from Florida International University, Melissa brings both scientific rigor and genuine passion to her work. As a Florida Master Naturalist, she has dedicated her career to understanding how our natural world works β€” and how to protect it.

She will share fresh insights from the Everglades Coalition Conference alongside findings from her own graduate research on seagrasses in Biscayne Bay, connecting the dots between plant biodiversity, water quality, and human health in ways that will surprise and inspire you.

Most importantly, she will show us how local engagement β€” the kind we practice right here in our community β€” creates real, lasting impact across the entire state.

This is also a wonderful opportunity to ask how other FNPS chapters are tackling challenges like ours. Bring your questions for our Ask the Expert segment!

We hope to see you there. The health of our wetlands β€” and our communities β€” depends on people who care. That's you!
