🚨 The City of Melbourne officially recognized June as Faith, Family and Responsible Fatherhood Month during Tuesday night's City Council meeting, encouraging citizens to "unite, celebrate and uplift" the fundamental community pillars during the month of Father's Day.

Before presenting the proclamation, Melbourne Mayor Paul Alfrey remarked on its personal significance to him, remembering his grandfather, a Baptist preacher who built Myrtle Baptist Church off Brandywine Lane in Melbourne. Alfrey shared that his childhood experience shaped his appreciation for the role faith plays in the community and noted appreciation for the council's continued practice of opening meetings with an invocation.

“We talk about what’s really important, and that’s family, faith ... and community,” Alfrey said.

🚨 Governor Ron DeSantis has signed a proclamation declaring June as Faith and Family Month in Florida, local Space Coast pastor Seth Tweeddale shared on Monday.

The statewide proclamation comes after more than 30 municipalities across Florida have already issued local resolutions and proclamations recognizing the month. Tweeddale, a state representative for Citizens Defending Freedom, has helped spearhead the initiative.

In Brevard County, Palm Bay, Titusville, and Satellite Beach have moved to recognize the observance, with Melbourne expected to make its own Faith and Family Month proclamation official at tonight’s City Council meeting.

🚨 TUESDAY - The City of Melbourne, is set to join a growing list of Brevard municipalities proclaiming June as Faith, Family and Responsible Fatherhood Month. The proclamation will be presented during the Melbourne City Council meeting at 6:30 p.m. at City Hall. Community members are invited to attend and show support for faith, family, and responsible fatherhood in Brevard County.

🚨 Local evangelist teams led by Lance Bury reported handing out 85,000 Gospel tracts at May graduation ceremonies in Brevard County and Orlando. Bury, a Space Coast based evangelist, is known for his public outreach ministry, distributing Gospel literature and sharing the Christian message at community events, schools, public gatherings, and college campuses throughout Central Florida.

Among those assisting in the outreach were Cocoa residents Calvin and Diana Corbett, a 73-year-old couple who helped distribute approximately 40,000 of the tracts. Bury shared that the couple drove to UCF each morning and afternoon to serve alongside him during the effort.

Happy Sunday 🌴✝️ Today we are spotlighting Eau Gallie Church of Christ off Sarno Road in Melbourne. The congregation was friendly and welcoming. Churches of Christ practice a ca****la singing in worship, and the congregation sang enthusiastically with rich harmony.

Eau Gallie Church of Christ has worshipped at its current location since 1964. The original sanctuary was completed in 1965. The minister is Jeff Smith, who came to the congregation in 2025. Today he continued a sermon series on the Sermon on the Mount with a topic of Giving, Praying, and Fasting from Matthew 6. “We’re trying to live so that God is glorified by what we do, not so others will notice us,” Jeff said.

The Churches of Christ are part of the Stone-Campbell Restoration Movement, which emerged during the Second Great Awakening. The movement seeks to unite Christians around the teachings and practices of the New Testament without denominational creeds or additional traditions. All Churches of Christ are independent, elder-led congregations.

Eau Gallie Church of Christ meets on Sundays at 10am, with a pre-service Bible study at 9am. Additional Bible classes are held on Sunday and Wednesday evenings.

Hosted by Fire in Action Ministries, the morning will focus on discipleship, ministry connection, testimonies, and opportunities to serve, with breakfast provided and fellowship among believers from across the county.

🌟 Local Spotlight ✝️ Kenny Elisa Johnson are Palm Bay residents dedicated to serving God through faith, leadership, education, and community outreach. Kenny is a lifelong Brevard County resident, a graduate of Bayside High School, Palm Bay City Councilman, and local business owner. Together, the Johnsons founded Rising Leaders Academy and Healing Through Christ Foundation, a nonprofit that supports homeless shelters, food services for the elderly, at-risk youth, and families in need through community assistance and scholarships. Through their work in ministry, education, and community service, they are committed to helping others grow in faith, purpose, and leadership.

Rising Leaders Academy is a faith-based homeschool enrichment program based at Iglesia Bautista Calvario in Melbourne. Through leadership development, entrepreneurship, STEM education, biblical discipleship, and hands-on learning experiences, the academy helps students discover their God-given purpose while developing character, confidence, and practical skills. Working alongside organizations such as Junior Achievement, local business owners, and community leaders, the program also provides leadership training, entrepreneurial experience, and guidance for dual enrollment opportunities. Its vision is to raise a generation of young people who think critically, lead courageously, serve faithfully, and impact the world for Christ.

🚨 STARTING TODAY - Glory of God Anglican Church in Cocoa is hosting the free Christ is King Conference 2026, focused on the lordship of Christ in all areas of life.
