This week we learned of the passing of a great man and faithful friend of the St Joseph’s High School Youth Group through the years, Mike Mansfield. May he rest in peace with our Lord for whom he had the highest devotion.

Looking back through the many pictures of the meetings and events of HS Youth Group, Mike’s presence was a shining light. He participated as an adult volunteer long after even the passing of Jackie and his girls were grown. Why? Because he knew the importance of passing on our Catholic faith to young people. His example of faith, family, service, friendship, fun and the importance of our Catholic community is the legacy he leaves. Our hearts are with Sue, Shannon & Maggie during this difficult time. I know for me, Mike’s heart and soul that lived for growing in relationship with God will boost my resolve to continue that effort here at St Joseph’s. Let’s think about how we all do that with and in the spirit of Mike Mansfield.

Please start to spread the word and plan to join us at the St Joseph’s Parish Center THIS THURSDAY evening to review the International Exhibit of Eucharistic Miracles and talk on Blessed Carlo Acutis. This is a family friendly event we have been working to bring to our parish community for several years.

Carlo Acutis is a saint in the making, a role model for our youth and all of us as he lived in OUR lifetime! He wanted everyone to know Jesus and the importance of receiving Jesus in the Eucharist. “The more Eucharist we receive, the more we will become like Jesus, so that on earth we will have a foretaste of heaven”-Carlo Acutis.

Find out more information on Carlo Acutis by joining us Thursday evening 3/23 at the Parish Center. Eucharistic miracles Exhibit, music, a talk on Carlo and display of relics of Blessed Carlo. Come join us for a faith filled evening!

A service week at Nazareth Farm is a wonderful experience for upcoming HS juniors. St. Josephs Parish has sent students and chaperones for many years. Why not coordinate a group of 6 teens with 2 adult chaperones for this summer?!

I was honored to write the first of a series of Lenten reflections on behalf of Nazareth Farm, an organization doing God’s work every day in building up the faith of our young people through service retreats and also helping build up the community in West Virginia through needed home repair work. Please sign up to receive the Lenten newsletters and offering a donation is always welcomed too! We need to continue to support the good work being done at and through Naz Farm, especially during these challenging times.

Join us in our Lenten Reflections. Read the first post by board member Ann McElhinney and sign up to join the mailing list. - https://mailchi.mp/bbd5f3177c16/journey-with-nazareth-farm
