On this feast of St. Monica, we think of all the mothers who are praying for the conversion of their children. Monica grieved for her son who was away from God, and devoted much of her life to praying that he would be saved. Her son, St. Augustine, went on to become a bishop and Doctor of the Church. St. Monica, pray for us and all those who are far from God!

106 years ago women in the United States were guaranteed the right to vote by the 19th Amendment. We celebrate today as Women’s Equality Day! Pope Saint John Paul II often wrote on the dignity of women, and especially highlighted gifts of femininity in his 1995 Letter to Women.
