Thu Jun 4-Fruit of the Spirit

Today’s scripture reading immediately reminded me of our Soul Soup ministry. Our volunteers make soup from our church garden veggies and donations of meats, herbs, beans, pasta and broth. We send the soup to a partner church where they feed and donate soup to people who can’t afford nutritious food....

Friends, as we begin Pride month, we want to share this statement from the General Board of Church and Society recognizing the important contributions of our LGBTQIA+ siblings. We are happy to be a place where all God's children are welcomed, valued, loved, and respected as co-workers in the ministry Jesus has given us.

This June, GBCS acknowledges the contributions and sacrifices of the LGBTQIA+ community in the pursuit of peace and justice nationally and globally. Pride Month was established in the United States to commemorate the 1969 Stonewall Uprising in New York City. The United Methodist Church’s Social Principles affirm that human sexuality is a gift grounded in love, care, and respect.

We encourage members and congregations of the church to take time to learn from and listen to members of the q***r community, to practice inclusivity, and to stand in solidarity against attacks on the LGBTQIA+ community—especially those targeting youth. We call for the protection of the rights and personhood of q***r and trans people within both the church and public policy.

Ways to engage: Join the LGBTQIA+ monthly working group (fourth Wednesday of every month at 5 p.m. ET), connect with your conference chapter of the Reconciling Ministries Network (RMN) for resources, and participate in advocacy efforts in your local community and state.

Contact [email protected] to join Church & Society's LGBTQIA+ monthly working group.

Tue June 2-What’s in a Name?

I thought that Pastor Joe gave a wonderful message last week on Pentecost Sunday sharing the description from Acts 2 of what that first Pentecost celebration might have looked like. As a Minister of Christian Education for 30 years, I created my fair share of Pentecost celebrations and Children’s Moments....

Congratulations to our 2026 confirmation class who we celebrated yesterday during our 10:30 worship service. We welcome 7 very special young people and give thanks for their families, mentors, leaders and pastors who helped them on the way. We pray every blessing on them as they live into their membership vows!

Fri May 28-Out of Our Hands, In God’s Hands

There are many times when we will have to entrust someone or something that we care very much for into the hands of someone else. You feel this when your child needs a medical procedure. You feel this when you hire an attorney to represent your case in court.....

Thu May 27-Fishers and FROG

Do you remember singing the song “Fishers of Men”? It’s always interesting to me when Brian teaches the kids a song during his children’s time. They are typically songs I learned in Sunday School many years ago. The songs have the right messaging but need some tweaks here and there for the times......
