Please bring your open hearts this Sunday to services and a
Bridging Ceremony for Boshawn Paisley-Flango
The service is titled:

"Tools for These Times"
Stress and anxiety are natural responses to a world full of so much pain and injustice. We know that being in a state of chronic panic is harmful, but what can we do? Join us as we explore tools for resilience and healing for ourselves and our communities.

Jess Smith (she/her) is a multi-faith chaplain in New York City. She graduated with her master of divinity from Union theological seminary in 2023, and served as a seminarian at an Episcopal Church in Brooklyn for two years. WE HOPE YOU WILL JOIN US THIS SUNDAY, MAY 18!
Our service will be led by local historian Dee Morris:
Learning to Cope!
Rev. John Pierpont was the minister of our church from
1849 - 1856. By the time he became a minister, his colorful career had already included becoming a merchant, a lawyer, and a nationally known poet; and in the pulpit he was known as a prominent abolitionist. No stranger to failure and triumph, Pierpont's life is a study in resilience. This service invites us to think about his ability to bounce back in the face of adversity as we ourselves cope with changes and challenges in our world.
Dee Morris is a Medford resident who has loved being a local historian for more than twenty-five years. She presents the life stories of our civic ancestors in programs offered by greater Boston libraries, cemeteries, and historical societies, including the Medford Historical Society & Museum. The author of three books, she is currently gathering material about Mary S. Hopkins, a nineteenth-century Medford resident who was a bicycle enthusiast at a time when very few women rode bikes.
The service begins with Morning Song in the sanctuary at 10:50. It will also be available on Zoom.

Please join us this Sunday, May 11 at the Unitarian Universalist Church of Medford for The Sacred Work of Not Knowing, with guest minister Reverend Wendy Miller Olapade.

They told us doubt was dangerous. But what if doubt is divine? What if the questions — about God, about ourselves, about our country - are not signs of failure, but signs of faith? This Sunday, come wrestle and wonder. We'll hear from rabbis, Rilke, and Rev. Wendy Miller Olapade on reaching and resistance. In a time when certainty builds walls, we'll dare to trust that doubt can build something better: a faith that still reaches for hope. Because resurrection is found - not in avoiding our wounds - but in reaching through them.
There will be Zoom this Sunday. You can find the Zoom link on our website: uumedford.org.

You can read more about Rev. Wendy in her bio below.

Rev. Wendy Miller Olapade (MDiv, Boston University School of Theology, 1995) is a progressive pastor, community builder, and spiritual innovator rooted in the United Church of Christ. She brings a prophetic voice, a creative heart, and a deep commitment to justice and healing through spiritual community.

Please join us on Sunday, April 23rd, for this service led by Rev. Hank Peirce.
"A Paradise Built in Hell"
In times of disaster extraordinary communities arise. It is as true after the LA fires as it was for the disciples of Jesus after the crucifixion. Our Easter service is a reminder that the courage to do difficult things is inherent in us as individuals and as a community, and that is something for us to celebrate!
Rev. Hank Peirce comes from old Swamp Yankee stalk, whose family's history reaches back centuries in our liberal churches. He has served churches across New England, including our church here in Medford for 12 years. He is overjoyed to be with us on Sunday!

Join us this Sunday, March 9, for our service led by Rev. Tess Baumburger
In God's Image: Disability Justice

In her beautiful and poetic book, Loving Our Own Bones, Rabbi Julia Watts Belser argues that if we're all created in the image of the Divine, then every body is sacred. Rabbi Belser is disabled, and speaks movingly of how an ableist world is not good for any body. What can we do to help the world be better for every body?
We hope you will join us!
Rev. Tess Baumberger has served as a minister and chaplain since 2003, including some time serving as UU Medford's half-time minister. She is now the minister at the First Universalist Church in Essex, MA, where she is active in ECCO (Essex County Community Organization), especially its immigration justice work.

Morning Song will begin at 10:50 in the sanctuary and the service will begin at 11:00. The service will also be available on Zoom:
