A note from Pastor Tom:
Good Saturday afternoon Broadus Memorial family and friends, I hope you are looking forward to our experience tomorrow as I am! I love Sundays when we gather as "family" to lift our praise and worship to our Heavenly Father.
My message for the morning is "The Powerful Touch" using Matthew 17:5-8 as our text. In that text we read "Jesus came and touched them, saying, 'Rise, and have no fear.'" Can you imagine having the Creator of the world, the Savior of the world, the author and finisher of faith, the King of kings reaching out and placing His hand on you? I believe the Son of God, Jesus Christ, still reaches down and touches us in many and various ways . . . and what a touch it is!!
His name was Jimmy. He was my friend. He was faithful in praying for and with me. He knelt with me in the pastor's office and we prayed for our worship service each Sunday morning. He was a young man who suffered with a weakened heart. In his last days on this earth, as I visited him in the hospital (which turned out to be the last time in this world), after we prayed, he said, "Pastor, I love you." Coming from a man, that kind of shocked me. He then asked, "did you hear me?" And, he said, "I love you." That, my friends, was (I believe) a touch of the Master in my life . . . I have not forgotten that last conversation with Jimmy and I made sure to say to two of my friends this week, who were in the final moments of physical life, "I love you."
Know this friend, God loves you. He wants to touch your life and bless you. He wants you to know He has made eternal provisions for you and He will walk with you daily if you will open yourself to Him. We will look as some of the ways Jesus touched people in the N.T. and see how He blesses completely and immediately!
Invite someone to join you in worship and pray that our God will pour out His strength and blessings on our worship time.
Blessings,
Pastor Tom
