A prayer in memory of the 25th Anniversary of September 11
Heavenly Father,
Today we pause to remember September 11, 2001, and the lives forever changed on that tragic day. We remember the thousands who lost their lives, and we lift before You their families and loved ones who continue to carry their loss.
Lord, we give thanks for the courage and sacrifice of the first responders, firefighters, police officers, medical personnel, military members, and ordinary citizens who stepped forward to help others. We remember those who gave their lives serving and protecting others, and we pray for those who still carry the physical and emotional scars of that day.
We ask You to comfort those who grieve, strengthen those who serve, and remind us that even in times of darkness, Your presence remains.
Father, protect our nation and its people. Give wisdom to our leaders, courage to those who defend our freedom, and compassion to all who serve their communities. Help us never to take our freedoms, our families, or one another for granted.
Most of all, turn our hearts toward You. Help us to be people who choose faith over fear, love over hatred, kindness over division, and peace over conflict.
May we remember not only the tragedy of September 11, but also the extraordinary courage, unity, generosity, and compassion that emerged in its aftermath.
“God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble.” — Psalm 46:1
We remember. We honor. We pray.
In the name of Jesus Christ,
Amen.
