Bob Childress, the local community built Slate Mountain by hand in 1932 as a chapel under Buffalo Mountain Church. Slate Mountain grew fast in numbers and became a church in 1939. Childress opened the doors to all denominations and this tradition is still the same today. Childress once said "As God spoke to Moses at the burning bush, Take your shoes off Moses you are on Holy Ground" Here at Slate

Mountain God has called many to be HIS people, to be a voice, to bring others to him...The Church, This Church, was conceived in the mind of Almighty God. Sunday School at 9 am
Worship at 10am
Singing the 1st Saturday of Each Month at 7pm
