Today, on the 25th anniversary of September 11, 2001, we pause to remember a day that forever changed our world.

We remember those who lost their lives, the families and loved ones who continue to carry their loss, and the first responders whose extraordinary courage and selflessness knew no limits.

As we reflect on the fear, pain, and grief of that day, we also pray for a world still wounded by violence and division. May we recommit ourselves to breaking down barriers, embracing strangers, extending forgiveness, and building communities rooted in courage, compassion, and love.

Twenty-five years later, may our remembrance deepen our resolve to be instruments of healing, hope, and peace in our world.

Today, September 9th, we joyfully celebrate the Feast Day of Blessed Alphonse Maria Eppinger, Founder of the Sisters of the Redeemer. This special day marks the anniversary of her birth in Niederbronn, France, in 1814 and invites us to reflect on a life of extraordinary courage, compassion, and hope.

Blessed Alphonse Maria lived amid war, famine, disease, and poverty and often experienced poor health herself. Yet she did not surrender to despair. Rooted in her unwavering trust in God’s love, she found the courage to serve others with hope and compassion in an ever-changing and unpredictable world.

Called by the Spirit of God to be a healing presence, she cared for those who were sick, poor, vulnerable, and alone. She saw the Redeemer in those she encountered and made God’s love visible through compassionate service. She ministered with such empathy and conviction that she earned a reputation as being a radical and visionary.

More than two centuries after her birth, Blessed Alphonse Maria’s legacy continues through each of us. Our world may look different from hers, but the need for courage, hope, and healing remains just as great.

It is especially fitting that we celebrate Blessed Alphonse Maria’s Feast Day during Redeemer Month as we reflect on our theme, “Have courage, God is with us,” which are words she herself lived and shared. With courage and deep trust in God, she laid the foundation for the Redeemer Charism, Spirituality, and Mission we are all blessed to share today.

May her example inspire us to have courage, trust in God’s presence, and continue bringing the healing love of the Redeemer to our world.

We come together today for the World Day of Prayer for the Care of Creation.

We give thanks for the beauty and simplicity of God’s Creation and reflect on our responsibility to care for our common home.

Today, on the World Day of Prayer for the Care of Creation, LCWR and many congregations around the world join in one prayer for our common home.
As our world faces extreme heat, floods, fires, displacement, and forced migration, we recognize that the climate crisis is deeply intertwined with racism, poverty, and injustice, with those who have contributed least often carrying the greatest burden.
May our prayer become care, our gratitude become action, and our love for creation become a promise to generations still to come. The earth we cherish today is the home they will inherit tomorrow. May we care for it, and for one another, with reverence, courage, and hope.

Today, August 28, the Sisters of the Redeemer join the other Congregations founded by Blessed Alphonse Maria Eppinger in celebrating Foundation Day.

On this day in 1849, Blessed Alphonse Maria, then Elisabeth Eppinger, and four young women moved into a small convent, known as the Kloesterle, in Niederbronn, France, officially marking the establishment of the Congregation.

From those humble beginnings, a mission of healing love has reached across generations and around the world.
We give thanks for all who continue to carry Blessed Alphonse Maria’s legacy forward, especially our partners in mission who bring our Redeemer Charism, Spirituality, and Mission to life each day.

Our hearts and prayers are with the people of Nepal following the devastating flash floods that have brought profound loss and hardship to so many communities.

We pray for those who have lost loved ones, for families whose homes have been swept away, and for all who face an uncertain road ahead. May God bring comfort to those who grieve, strength to the local people to endure the days and months ahead, and protection to all responding to this disaster.

Let us pray this prayer shared by Catholic Relief Services:

Please join us in praying for all those impacted by the devastating flash floods in Nepal. Families have lost loved ones, homes and livelihoods, and many communities will face immense challenges in the aftermath.

We are closely monitoring the situation and will share updates about our response as more information becomes available. In the meantime, we ask you to keep everyone affected in your prayers.
