Sisters of the Redeemer

Sisters of the Redeemer We are women of faith, called by the Spirit of God to be a healing, hope-filled presence.

We are compelled to bring the healing presence and compassion of the Redeemer to those who suffer in body, mind and spirit. We strive to be witnesses to hope and joy as we serve Jesus in the most vulnerable. Our inspiration flows from our relationship with Jesus, our Redeemer as we follow the example of Blessed Alphonse Maria Eppinger who founded the congregation in 1849 on the principal that "Love of God and love of neighbor are but one single love."

“Faith is to believe what you do not see; the reward of this faith is to see what you believe.” — St. Augustine of Hippo

In moments of uncertainty, may we trust that God is present and at work, even when the path ahead is unclear. May St. Augustine of Hippo’s words remind us to walk in faith, confident that God continues to guide and sustain us every day.

In the beauty of Creation, we encounter the presence of God. May we take time today to reflect, give thanks, and care for the world entrusted to us.

It was a joy to celebrate Redeemer Day with so many of our friends and Partners in Mission! We were especially blessed to welcome the Most Reverend Efren V. Esmilla, Auxiliary Bishop of the Archdiocese of Philadelphia, as Presider.

We give thanks for all who have answered the call to become Redeemer Associates. Congratulations to Kimberly Alps (first commitment); Anne Marie Scull (second commitment, receiving her candle); and Nancy Gaffney, Rita Killian, Joan Ormes, and Monica Simon (third commitment, receiving their medals). We also welcomed four new Young Redeemer Associates!

We are also grateful for our faith partners—especially the Holy Spirit Sisters and the Sisters of St. Joseph of Mombasa—who shared their beautiful voices and graceful movements alongside Sr. Secilia, Sr. Noela, and Sr. Irene.

If you or anyone you know is interesting in learning more about our Redeemer Associate Program- in Pennsylvania or Florida, or our Young Redeemer Associate program, email Sr. Maryanne King at [email protected]

Tomorrow, Saturday, we will gather in joy to celebrate our annual Redeemer Day—our Congregation’s official Feast Day, entrusted to us by the Vatican. This significant day invites us to give thanks to Jesus Christ, our Redeemer, after whom our Congregation, our ministries, and all of Redeemer Health are honored to be named.

Although miles may separate us, Sisters of the Redeemer in the United States, Germany, and Tanzania will unite as one international Congregation in celebration of Redeemer Day. Each part of the Congregation will mark this festive day with a special Mass, during which time we will renew our vows of religious consecration and rejoice in our shared devotion and commitment to Jesus the Redeemer.

We will also celebrate the growth of our Redeemer Associates by welcoming a new Associate and our first four Young Redeemer Associates. Current Redeemer Associates will renew their commitment to live out the Redeemer Charism and Spirituality and to serve in the spirit of Jesus Christ the Redeemer. We are very grateful this year to welcome the Most Reverend Efren V. Esmilla, Auxiliary Bishop of the Archdiocese of Philadelphia, as the Presider of this Mass.

To our cherished Partners in Mission, we offer our sincere appreciation. Your unwavering commitment to the mission helps carry forward the legacy of our Founder, Blessed Alphonse Maria Eppinger and the Sisters who have gone before us. Please know that you will be remembered in prayer with deep gratitude during this special Redeemer Day Mass.

May God bless you abundantly with joy and inner peace during these beautiful, colorful days of spring and especially on Redeemer Day!
