Please read:Wednesday night this message was not just for the church… it was for me.
Me and my family have faced one of the toughest seasons in ministry that we have ever walked through. It started almost three years ago.
I had to stand by and watch a community that I love deeply believe accusations and lies that were spoken against our church.
There were many times I wanted to defend ourselves, but God called me to stand in silence.
The hurt was real. The pain was deep. It felt like everything we had worked so hard to build was being attacked by the enemy.
During that season, I became guarded without even realizing it. But through God’s help, I learned something powerful.
Ephesians 6:12 reminds us:
“For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this age…”
I was never fighting people. The enemy was trying to use hurt, offense, and betrayal to poison my heart.
As a minister, I had to learn how to love like Jesus.
What does that mean?
Unconditional love.
I learned that no matter how I felt, and no matter what was said, people still deserved forgiveness.
I also learned how to forgive without keeping a record.
1 Corinthians 13:5 says love “keeps no record of being wronged.”
So to everyone who thought the attacks would destroy us or our ministry… thank you.
What the enemy meant for evil, God used to make us stronger.
Our church is nowhere near finished.
We are stronger now than we have ever been.
God is still moving.
God is still healing.
God is still building His church.
And we are still standing.
The reason I am sharing this now is because it is time.
We love this community.
We love people.
Yes, we are a Pentecostal church.
And no, contrary to popular belief, we are not a “white church.”
We are simply the Body of Christ, and we pray that God continues to make us a multicultural church that reflects Heaven.
I am going to be honest with you:
If you come to Crossroads, you will probably hear people speaking in tongues.
You may see someone fall under the power of God.
Someone else may shout, dance, or jump.
Why?
Because we believe in freedom.
We believe where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is liberty.
But hear me most of all:
You will find a church that will not judge you, but love you.
If every other church has rejected you, come join us.
We know what rejection feels like.
We are just a bunch of imperfect people serving a perfect God.
We are a body of believers that has been redeemed.
Want to know our past?
Here it is.
Some of us were addicts.
Some have been through failed marriages.
Some have filed bankruptcy.
Some were drunks, liars, cheaters, bar hoppers, dope heads, or p**n addicts.
And no, none of us are perfect.
Some of us have had arguments and later reconciled back together.
You may even find ex-husbands and ex-wives sitting in church together with their children.
Why?
Because grace changes people.
We are not perfect, but our mission is to be a loving church and a welcoming church.
We have been rejected.
We get talked about all the time.
People think we are crazy because we are charismatic and believe in speaking in tongues.
That’s okay.
We are not serving the naysayers.
We are serving Jesus.
You want to know why we are who we are?
Because we have been tested by God.
And through every attack, every lie, every betrayal, and every storm… God kept us.
So if you are imperfect, broken, hurting, addicted, rejected, or just searching for hope…
Come join us.
There is a place for you at Crossroads.
