The things we repeatedly tell ourselves can keep old cycles alive.
Shame may sound like:
“I’m the problem.”
“I’ll never change.”
“I’ve already messed up too much.”
Those thoughts can feel convincing without being true. When shame becomes part of our normal inner conversation, it affects how we see ourselves, relate to others, and respond to the possibility of change.
In this full teaching, Pastor David A. Case explores negative self-talk, personal responsibility, and the difference between honestly recognizing a problem and defining ourselves by it.
The cycle doesn’t have to keep repeating. We can learn to recognize the story, bring it before God, and begin responding from truth.
