Victory Baptist Church - Milner

Victory Baptist Church - Milner Victory meets in an old school house turned into a church house. The community was named Milner, thus the second part of our Church name.

We love the official church name, Victory.

Robbie Nash is guest speaker this morning. Pray for the Church as they seek a pastor. I, the ole parson, am visiting around here and there until we get a pastor at Victory. I might note there are hot spots of Covid here and there in our and neighboring counties.

there will be no evening Bible study at church until after the 4th. We have been studying the 53 chapter of Isaiah. Preacher Sunday will be Tye Boyette once again.

I retired from Victory a couple of weeks ago. The church has begun the process of getting another pastor. The visiting preacher last Sunday was Tye Boyette from down Walker's Creek way. He is coming back today. I am doing the evening Bible class as needed. Pray for this Church. They have only done pastoral selection 3 times in the past 50 years.

Our attendance is picking up a little. I think the Lord is prodding us to do some local mission work. I am preaching a series from the Articles of Faith adopted by our Church when it was organized in 1890. This coming Sunday I will be preaching from article 6 which is about predestination, election, and accountability. This is a much disputed subject in Baptist ranks today. This subject is kinda like the Trinity, (Father, Son, and Holy Spirit). Both are far beyond my pay grade, but, never-the-less need to be taught because both are scriptural.

Welcome to Victory for Sunday school at 10 and worship at 11. We are still having local services even though the virus precautions have taken a toll on our attendance. Several of our older members have taken at least the 1st shot of the Covid vaccine. I plan to take it when it is available to me.

Worship service at 11 this morning. We have several that are out sick this morning. Cassie's father is critical in Baptist in Little Rock. Gary Gunter is in Wentworth Rehab. Others are effected by the Covid. Services for Kim's Mom were last Friday.
Vanda and Bubba will be doing our music this morning. Come if you can, pray if you can't. Sermon this morning will be: Your Faith at Work. Hebrews 11.

Good morning and Welcome to Sunday School and worship at Victory. We have a member, Carl Bailey, who suffered a severe stroke this week. Others in our community with the Covid this week and others who are truly "shutin" because of visitation limitation to senior care facilities. With rising frequency of Covid case, please be careful. Remember these in your prayers.

I will not try to attend services at Victory tomorrow because of being exposed to the virus last Monday. Pray for the services and worship with a fine group of people. Bro Evans has consented to preach in my stead tomorrow. We will omit the evening Bible study.

To those who follow Victory-Milner. Due to illness I have missed church the last 3 Sundays, but am planning to be there tomorrow if the Lord permits. Kingdoms rise and fall, but the Old Ship of Zion sails on. Isa. 46:9-10 Remember the former things of old: for I am God, and there is none else; I am God, and there is none like me, Declaring the end from the beginning, and from ancient times the things that are not yet done, saying, My counsel shall stand, and I will do all my pleasure. . . .now all you lying politicians put that in your pipe and smoke it. . . .

I have been preaching and pastoring for 61 years now and am sorely missing the pulpit right now due to being sidelined with gall stones. The bright side of this is My grandsons Parker and Caleb have been out hunting so I got to spend some time with them. My son Jeff is due in tonight sometime to hunt with an old college buddy, Jim Worster for a few days. So with every cloud there is a silver lining.

Thanks to Bro. Justin Clark for filling in for me last Sunday. We are looking forward to hearing Bro. Jimmy Walker this next Sunday. He is a BMA missionary to the Phillipines. I am still waiting for surgery to remove gall stones. Very much pain but recently had heart stent so I am in kind of a quandry and am souped up with blood thinners. Pray for all those who are battling the virus right now. It appears that those who come to victory who had it are doing much better now. Sure would like to see more in attendance to hear the variety of preachers until I get back on my feet. And in the meantime Muzzle loader deer season is in full swing without me for the most part. . . . .were I preaching this next Sunday my text would be Luke 9:62 "No man, having put his hand to the plough, and looking back, is fit for the kingdom of God." Jesus had been talking to people who made various excuses for not following him. I was raised on a hill farm and spent many hours behind a mule plowing, so I know just what Jesus was talking about.

The old parson at Victory is still under the weather after a heart stent Tuesday. The discomfort is in my bread basket. In spite of that I just can't bring myself to keeping the doors closed this Sunday. You just be your own judge as to whether to attend. The virus is pretty thick around here, so do be cautious and remember even if you don't like to wear a mask. Those sitting nearby would most likely feel better if you do.
