For those that follow us online, I have a question. I'm considering conducting a yearlong discipleship course that we received access to. It would consist of one weekly session that would last around one hour and meet for 52 weeks (yep, a full year). Google meet, I think, would be the delivery method.
There are four phases or quarters in the program:
Q1: The goal of this first quarter is to establish a strong foundation for discipleship by exploring who God is, who He says we are, and how we can cultivate a deep relationship with Him.
Q2: Quarter 2 focuses on the transformation of our daily lives as followers of Jesus. Discipleship is not only about what we believe but about how we live. In this section, we turn to Christian character, putting off the old self and putting on the new, as described in Colossians 3 and Ephesians 4. Each class explores qualities that reflect Christ’s nature, such as compassion, kindness, humility, patience, love, peace, faithfulness, and self-control.
Q3. Quarter 3 is about building our lives more deeply on the foundation of Christ and learning how to strengthen that foundation through the Word of God. Discipleship is not meant to be walked out in isolation; we are built together as the body of Christ.
Q4: The evangelism quarter of this course equips students to share the Gospel with confidence, compassion, and the leading of the Holy Spirit. Students learn that evangelism is more than getting someone to pray a prayer, it’s inviting them into a life of discipleship with Jesus. The module explores Jesus’ command in Matthew 28:19–20 and Acts 1:8, showing that our mission flows from God’s heart for the world and is empowered by His Spirit. Students examine biblical examples, the importance of building genuine relationships, and the necessity of communicating the Good News clearly and simply. The teaching emphasizes that evangelism is both a lifestyle and a calling for every believer.
At this time, this is just a thought or consideration. Trying to see if anyone would be interested in spending the time on a weekly basis for a full year. If so, comment below "I'm in" and that will give me something to think about. The group would be kept small indeed.
Thanks to all!
