The class of '74 gathered together for a church service, to receive communion, eat lunch and fellowship together to complete our weekend activities.
We missed all of you who couldn't come to the weekend celebration of 50 years as graduates from Christian High School.
I'd like to thank Bill Mccandless for all his hard work of putting this weekend together. A special thanks to Laura Laird and Darrell Gish for opening up their homes to us to meet together. Thank you Jerry Lawson for the inspiration for the communion service and Wayne Wilson for serving us communion.
The richest part of our time together was the testimony time at the church service where the graduates shared God's faithfulness over and over again to them throughout their lives.
Finally I'd like to share a transcript of my sermon yesterday:
Proverbs 17:17 says "A friend is always loyal."
Proverbs 18:24 says: "There are friends who destroy each other but a real friend sticks closer than a brother."
The bond of friendship runs deep with the class of 74. Time has passed and the history of our lives shows in the lines on our faces. Wrinkles from tests, trials, and tribulations. Lines from the stresses, griefs, and sorrows we've endured, creases our brows. But smile lines reveal our victories and joys. The years have passed, but our friendships have endured and the distance faded the moment we reunited.
Our bond? ... Christian High School but most of all ...Jesus! We are unique in our connection. Most people do not go to their class reunions but because of our connection in the spiritual world and God's faithfulness to us, here we are again looking forward to our 60-year reunion.
Psalms 92:14 says: "Even in old age the godly will still produce fruit. They will remain vital and green."
Paul said in 2nd Timothy 4:7-8: "I have fought the good fight. I have finished the race. I have remained faithful and now the prize awaits me, the crown of righteousness. Which the Lord, the righteous judge, will give me on the day of his return and not just for me but all who eagerly look forward to his appearing."
We can see the finish line but we look forward to what Jesus has for us in the next season of life. Our goal should be to finish strong and at the same time burn out for Jesus.
We still have a job to do in building His kingdom and He has plans for us in the work of the Gospel and in our individual ministries.
I encourage you, class of '74, to continue to seek His face, seek His will, and eagerly share His Joy with the upcoming generations.
So whatever you do in the future, do it all for the glory of God!
