UUFMer Christy Scattarella, who launched “An Optimist’s Guide to Alzheimer’s” talk at UUFM last September, has a TEDx talk! Christy was invited to present “Alzheimer’s: A Doorway, Not a Dead End”, at the Chicago TEDx Lake Shore Drive event in late January. (Link https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=meGp1hEdTEg) Christy and husband, fellow UUFMer Ken Moore, just returned from Washington, DC where they joined over 1,000 other advocates at the annual Alzheimer’s Impact Movement Forum to lobby for the bipartisan Alzheimer’s Screening and Prevention Act (i.e. ASAP). The Act would allow Medicare to cover a groundbreaking blood test that can detect Alzheimer’s up to 20 years ahead of symptoms and make it part of standard medical practice - just like a mammogram.
