The fact that Jesus died for our sin, was buried, and then rose from the grave is foundational for Providence Baptist Church. He lives today and stands ready to give abundant and eternal life to all those who repent of sin and place their faith in Him. How To Become A Christian

There’s something special about a little church out in the country.

At Providence Baptist Church, you’ll find loving people, faithful preaching from God’s Word, Christ-centered worship, and a church family that truly cares for one another. We may be a small rural church, but we serve a big Savior — and there’s always room for more around the family table.

If you’ve been looking for a church home where your family can grow in the grace and knowledge of Jesus Christ, we would love to welcome you for a visit to Providence. Whether you’ve been in church your whole life or haven’t stepped inside a church building in years, you are invited.

The Bible says:

“And let us consider how to stir up one another to love and good works, not neglecting to meet together… but encouraging one another.”
— Hebrews 10:24–25 (ESV)

And Jesus said:

“Let the little children come to me and do not hinder them, for to such belongs the kingdom of heaven.”
— Matthew 19:14 (ESV)

We believe church should be a place where:
• families grow together
• children learn about Christ
• friendships are built
• burdens are shared
• prayers are lifted up
• and Jesus is faithfully proclaimed

At Providence, you’re not just another face in the crowd. We want to know you, pray for you, worship alongside you, and serve Christ together with you.

Come experience the beauty of a simple, faithful country church where the Gospel is preached, the Bible is loved, and people genuinely care.

Somebody needs this reminder today:

The devil will give you a hundred reasons not to go to church this Sunday… but God has already given you every reason to come.

If the enemy can distract you, discourage you, isolate you, or convince you to stay away from God’s people, he will try. Why? Because there is strength, encouragement, conviction, healing, worship, truth, and Gospel hope when believers gather together around the Word of God.

This Sunday morning at Providence Baptist Church, we would love to welcome you and your family to worship with us at 11:00 AM.

We’re just a small rural church made up of ordinary people who need an extraordinary Savior. Nobody here is perfect. We all need Jesus Christ.

You do not have to “clean yourself up” before coming to church. Come hurting. Come tired. Come anxious. Come struggling. Come searching. Come with questions. Come as you are — and hear the truth of God’s Word.

Jesus said:

“Come to me, all who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.” — Matthew 11:28 (ESV)

The church is not a museum for saints. It is a gathering of sinners saved by grace through faith in Christ.

Maybe you’ve been out of church for years. Maybe life got busy. Maybe you’ve been hurt. Maybe you’ve grown spiritually cold. Maybe you’ve never truly known Christ. Friend, don’t let another Sunday pass without seeking the Lord.

“Draw near to God, and he will draw near to you.” — James 4:8 (ESV)

HERE ARE SOME COMMON WAYS THE ENEMY TRIES TO KEEP PEOPLE FROM CHURCH:

• BUSYNESS
The enemy loves overcrowded schedules because distracted hearts rarely seek God deeply.
But Jesus said: “Seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness…” — Matthew 6:33 (ESV)

• FEAR OR ANXIETY
Some fear judgment, crowds, or awkwardness. Satan wants people isolated and alone.
But God says: “Fear not, for I am with you…” — Isaiah 41:10 (ESV)

• FEELING UNWORTHY
Many think: “I’m too broken for church.”
The truth is none of us are worthy apart from Christ. That’s why we need Him.
“While we were still sinners, Christ died for us.” — Romans 5:8 (ESV)

• HYPOCRISY IN CHURCHES
Yes, churches are filled with imperfect people. But don’t let flawed people keep you from a perfect Savior.
“Looking to Jesus, the founder and perfecter of our faith…” — Hebrews 12:2 (ESV)

• EXHAUSTION
The enemy wants people spiritually drained and disconnected.
But God strengthens His people through worship, fellowship, and His Word.
“They who wait for the LORD shall renew their strength…” — Isaiah 40:31 (ESV)

• DISTRACTIONS
Sports, entertainment, hobbies, work, and endless scrolling can slowly pull hearts away from God.
“Set your minds on things that are above…” — Colossians 3:2 (ESV)

• OFFENSE OR BITTERNESS
Sometimes people get hurt and withdraw from church altogether.
But bitterness only deepens the wound. Christ calls us to forgiveness and restoration.
“Be kind to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another…” — Ephesians 4:32 (ESV)

• SPIRITUAL APATHY
Sometimes hearts simply grow cold over time.
But God’s Word calls us to wake up and return to Him.
“Awake, O sleeper, and arise from the dead, and Christ will shine on you.” — Ephesians 5:14 (ESV)

Friend, don’t let the enemy win the battle for your worship this Sunday.

Make plans now to be in God’s house. Bring your family. Invite a friend. Come worship with us.

“And let us consider how to stir up one another to love and good works, not neglecting to meet together…” — Hebrews 10:24–25 (ESV)

A Message from Pastor Eric:
On Sunday morning, I briefly discussed why certain verses, such as John 5:4, may not appear in some modern Bible translations. For those interested in learning more, I've included links to a couple of helpful articles from GotQuestions.org that explain the reasons these verses are omitted or noted differently in many contemporary translations.

https://www.gotquestions.org/missing-verses.html

Why are the newer translations of the Bible missing verses? Why are there so many differences between the King James Version and the newer translations?

It’s heartbreaking how easy it is to get people excited about food at church… but how hard it is to get people excited about Jesus.

Mention a potluck, cookout, dinner, or fellowship meal, and people will often rearrange their schedules to come.

But announce prayer meeting.
Announce Bible study.
Announce worship centered on Christ and His Word.

And suddenly people are “too tired,” “too busy,” or “just can’t make it.”

That should grieve us.

There’s nothing sinful about food and fellowship. The early church shared meals together with glad hearts. But somewhere along the way, many people began loving the benefits of church more than Christ Himself.

Jesus warned the crowds in His own day:

“Jesus answered them, ‘Truly, truly, I say to you, you are seeking me, not because you saw signs, but because you ate your fill of the loaves.’”
— John 6:26 (ESV)

Many followed Jesus for what He could give them physically, but not because they truly loved Him spiritually.

Yet Jesus said:

“Do not work for the food that perishes, but for the food that endures to eternal life, which the Son of Man will give to you.”
— John 6:27 (ESV)

Then He declared:

“Jesus said to them, ‘I am the bread of life; whoever comes to me shall not hunger, and whoever believes in me shall never thirst.’”
— John 6:35 (ESV)

The truth is this:

A hungry stomach will eventually hunger again.
But a soul fed by Christ will find eternal life.

The Psalmist wrote:

“Oh, taste and see that the LORD is good! Blessed is the man who takes refuge in him!”
— Psalm 34:8 (ESV)

And Jesus taught us:

“Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they shall be satisfied.”
— Matthew 5:6 (ESV)

Church is not ultimately about entertainment.
It’s not about social events.
It’s not even about the food.

It’s about worshipping the risen Christ.
It’s about hearing the Word of God.
It’s about gathering with the people of God because Jesus is worthy.

May God forgive us for the times we’ve desired a full plate more than a full heart.

And may He give us a deeper hunger for Christ than we’ve ever had before.

Make no mistake, when we have an event we want people to come, and we are happy to feed them and their families. But what’s most important, is that they leave with faith in Jesus and a desire to return to get more of Him.
