In the story of David and Goliath, we don’t find ourselves in the fearless boy who ran to kill a giant. We are the army behind David cowering in fear at the giant hurling insults day and night.
David the shepherd boy who would become king was born to give us a window into our future king of kings in Jesus.
Until our king Jesus came to defeat death and slay the giant of sin, there was no future for us outside hiding our heads in the sand while that sin taunts us before eventually dealing the final blow.
David did what the Israelite army could not, just as Jesus Christ came to earth and did what we could not.
Trust in Christ and be a slave to fear no longer.

Love people and speak to people in a way that allows them to see their own position!
Maybe you know someone who’s been desperately in need of help, but totally unaware of it. Sometimes those are the hardest heads to get through.
After man’s first sin God didn’t come to the garden in a fury or unaware of the situation. “But the LORD God called to the man and said to him, “Where are you?” And he said, I heard the sound of You in the garden, and I was afraid, because I was naked, and I hid myself.” (Gen. 3:9-10).
God knew where they were, and He knew what they had done, but until Adam admitted his distance from God he would be unable to accept what was coming.
Our knowing what someone sitting across from us is going through is only part of the journey we complete. An admittance of their need for God must be personal, and will be more readily seen in our gospel centered conversations.
Remember those of us living with Christ were once on the other side of that table living with no hope.

Always keep in mind ”have mercy on those who doubt; save others by snatching them out of the fire; to others show mercy with fear, hating even the garment stained by the flesh.” (Jude 1:22-23).

The church is called to be involved outside the walls as well as within.
How can we expect God to work if only the bare minimum is being done?
It’s time to get out of our comfortable pews and be engaged beyond one hour on Sunday morning.
