Please wish our new Director of Music Worship and Praise Jon Hamilton a Happy Birthday!

Mr. Jon Hamilton was recently appointed as Director of Music Worship and Praise (P/T) at Chesterbrook UMC. Jon is an Erie, PA native who began his musical career teaching K-12 while working in full time ministry as a Worship Director. In these roles Jon has educated and conducted choirs, instrumental groups, teams, and ensembles ranging from all ages, backgrounds, cultures and denominations. "I've been able to lead people on opposing political spectrums in shared and communal music settings. The vulnerability that took place in those spaces was sacred indeed."

Jon has previously served for over 13 years as an educator in the Title 1 schools of Fairfax and Montgomery County Public Schools. He teaches private voice and piano to intermediate and advanced learners in his private studio in Maryland and in Northern Virginia. He has also led summer arts students at the Levine School of Music. When not working Jon is often giving his time to depth work and self development, whether alone or in group facilitation trainings. Such full hearted living provides many opportunities for enriching relationships as well as experiences. Jon is currently pursuing doctoral studies at William James College in Leadership Psychology.

Jon graduated from Allegheny College with his Bachelor of Arts in Music Performance in 2007. He later earned his M.Ed. from Pennsylvania Western University (formerly Edinboro University) studying Middle & Secondary Education and Music Education in 2011.

Jon is excited to join Chesterbrook United Methodist Church, with the leadership of Senior Pastor Rev Dr. Jeffrey Haugh, and share a love of Jesus that invites the congregation and community into a heart of worship through contemporary and traditional musical praise. We are grateful for his gifts and look forward to all that God will do through this new season of worship.

We are in a season of new discernment and intercession. Church will be open Saturday 4/25 and 5/2 at 8:30am for open prayer. It’s a time to come together, lift each other up, and bring anything on your heart—big or small. Whether it’s for yourself, loved ones, community, and the world around us, all prayer requests are welcome. We invite everyone to come in this open time to pray.
