FROM FATHER EUGENE
Dear Parish Family,
By now, many of you have heard the news that Fr. Juan has been reassigned to serve at Santa Clara Catholic Church, Dallas, effective July 1st. While we are saddened to see him leave St. Gabriel, we are deeply grateful for the faithful and joyful way he has served our parish community. There will be a reception following all Masses on his final weekend with us, June 27/28th.
This time of the year is always one of transition for our priests. Assignments can bring anticipation, uncertainty, or excitement, but ultimately, we go where the Lord calls us to serve. As we say goodbye to Fr. Juan, we are also blessed to welcome familiar and new faces to our parish family.
We are delighted to welcome our own Fr. William Mobley as our new parochial vicar. What a gift it is to have a priest who was raised in our parish now returning to serve the community that helped nurture his vocation. Fr. Mobley is the son of David and Mary Mobley, who have been parishioners at St. Gabriel since 1998.
We also warmly welcome Fr. Joel Bako, who currently serves as the hospital chaplain for Northern Collin County. He is a Priest in Residence which means that he has a special assignment as designated by the bishop. His presence is a blessing to us as he may be able to help us as his assigned duties allow him. Many of you know Fr. Joel as he is often stepping in to help with Masses and Reconciliation at St. Gabriel. We will have an opportunity to welcome both Fr. Joel and Fr. Mobley in July.
Hosting the Presbyteral Ordination last Saturday was a tremendous blessing for our parish. I heard so many compliments and kind words from our guests and visitors about St. Gabriel's hospitality. I would like to extend my heartfelt thanks to all who worked so diligently to ensure every detail was in place for such a beautiful and significant celebration, especially Audrey Hair, the Liturgy Team, and our staff. Please continue to keep our three newly ordained priests: Fr. Matthew, Fr. Jeremy, and Fr. Nicholas, in your prayers.
Blessings,
Fr. Eugene
