Jessie Owens went every week to that old house, preaching the Word of God. He would continue preaching, with only a few members; who included: a niece (Natalie Kinchen two nephews (Nathan Jr. Kinchen, Max Kinchen and a granddaughter (Kamesha Williams) and a local Hispanic man who would drop by from time to time. Knowing what his mission was, he did not let that deter him. His wife the late Mission
ary Dorothy Owens and their children continued their fellowship at Shiloh C.O.G.I.C; under the leadership of the late Bishop F.W. Her and the children would also come and offer up their praises as well. Jessie Owens was given a vision by God to transport his members, to an office building on Chestnut Street. They were given a small office to render their church services and God continued moving even in that small space. People were healed, delivered, saved and baptized in the Holy Ghost. Jessie Owens was later given the office of District Superintendent under the leadership of the Late Bishop FW Smith of The Texas Northeast 3rd Ecclesiastical Jurisdiction. The Holy Spirit told the man of God to tear down the walls, and hire workman to complete the work. On that day Owens Chapel was like the children of Israel walking around the walls of Jericho, until all the walls came down. Now in the year 2021, 34years later we the members of Owens Chapel Church of God in Christ, are yet standing on the promises of God. We are reaching toward higher heights and deeper depths in God. No weapons formed against us shall prosper and we are yet standing on the Word of God! Superintendent Jessie Owens; Pastor and Missionary Jessica Owens Luckey
District Missionary.
