Ash Wednesday at Church of the Ascension.
“Remember that you are dust, and to dust you shall return.”
Last night we knelt.
We confessed.
We received ashes in the sign of the cross.
Ashes on our foreheads — a visible reminder that life is fragile, time is short, and we desperately need the mercy of God. But the cross traced in ash is not just about death. It’s about hope. It’s about repentance that leads to renewal. It’s about a Savior who entered our dust and raised it to glory.
From the prayers at the lectern, to the quiet moments at the rail, to the simple, solemn marking of the cross — it was a sacred beginning to Lent.
And then, as an act of love flowing from repentance, we packed hygiene kits for our neighbors through Street Side Showers. Because returning to God always turns us toward others.
If you’re beginning this season with us, we’re praying that these forty days would be a time of honest reflection, deep repentance, and real renewal.
His mercy is more. 🖤✝️
