I have been preaching since I was 12 years old and have been Pastor of Baptist Churches for over 50 years. In 1970 I decided to go to college and found myself moving to Kentucky and i graduated from Mid-Continent Baptist Bible College, which is now Mid-Continent University. I graduated in December of 1973 with a B.A. degree in ministerial and business. I was blessed with two different Churches ove

r the 3 years I was in College. Sharpe Missionary Baptist, Sharpe, Kentucky and Sidonia Baptist Church, Sidonia, TN. I was pastor at Sharpe about a year and moved to Sidonia, TN. for the next 3 years. The Lord blessed our ministry and we had many saved in those years as I preached Revivals and our Church had fatuousness growth. The Lord has blessed us and I have been the evangelist in over 300 revivals and many Bible Conferences. Judy and I sing, she plays the piano and I still preach every chance I get. We are available for supply, interim pastor, pastor, revivals, and special services.

We had a great Home Coming. All was great. Singing with New Vocal Blend, great crowd with just over 60 attending. 45 stayed for the meal and food was outstanding. Thanks to our Ladies for the hard work and planning. Powerful Spirit. I can’t say enough about the singers. Praise the Lord for all the blessings. These folks sing to serve the Lord. Thanks to Sardis Ridge Baptist Church and their Pastor, Bro Jacob Eaton it was a great week end. Bro Less Funderburg and his Family was a blessing too. He and his 6 Sisters sang a couple of songs. May the Lord bless them. Thanks to all who came and had any part in the Home Coming. If you visited thank you very much and you are welcome to come to Bethlehem anytime.

Have you ever tried to explain the Grace of God to an unsaved person, who thinks Heaven is a Hall of Fame for achievers instead of the Father's House for Believers?

Incredible Journey
The Book of Mark
By: Dr. Joe W. Eaton
Introduction: According to Acts 12:12 John Mark lived in Jerusalem with his mother Mary. Mark was his Surname. Mary must have been a devout Christian; she opened her home to the church to pray. Many ______ ___________ in her home to pray.
John Mark went with Paul and Barnabas on their first missionary journey. (Acts 13:5) A famine came on the land and the brethren, which dwelt in Judea sent ___________ from Antioch to ____________, by the hands of __________ and ________. (Acts 11: 27-30)
In Acts 13:13, John Mark left Barnabas and Paul and returned to _____________. His turning back, later caused a ___________ between Barnabas and Paul. (Acts 15:36-41) However, Paul did make and effort to repair the ____________ and restore a right relationship.
(Colossians 4:10 & II Tim. 4:11) Here we learn that Paul had changed his mind about John Mark and compliments his ministry.
Peter expressed that John Mark was his son. (II Peter 5:13) Here he refers to him as _______
__ _____. Here he is referring to a spiritual son in the ministry. Probably is a reference, which tells us that Peter had been his mentor. It could be referring to Peter winning John Mark to a faith in Christ.
The Book
Mark is presenting Jesus as the Servant of God. (Mark 10:44-45) Verse forty-five is the ______ verse in the book of Mark. Mark is writing to Roman readers.
The word "straightway" is used ____ times in the book of Mark. It means immediately. Mark pictures Jesus as "the servant of God," who is on the go. As Jesus is going, he is meeting people's needs.
Jesus is still meeting the needs of His people. He supplies our every need. (Phil. 4:19) Those who read the book of Mark are encouraged. The book was written around AD 64-67, at a time when Christians needed encouraged. They were suffering under the rule of Nero, who was a harsh Emperor of Rome.
Mark records about half of Jesus miracles. The healing of a deaf and dumb man (Mark 7:31-37) and the healing of a blind man (Mark 8: 22-26) are recorded only in the book of Mark. Jesus used 18 parables and only two of them are peculiar to Mark's Gospel. (Mark 4:) This parable is called, "The Parable of the Sower". (Mark 13: 34-37) Often called the Parable of the Watch. Mark does not record long speeches or sermons. He pictures Jesus as servant of action. He records exciting accounts surrounding the life of Christ and records more about Jesus emotions that he expressed in his works.
Mark presents the exciting fact of the coming of John the Baptist, who was the forerunner of Jesus. He states John the Baptist is "The _______ of one _________ in the wilderness. "Prepare ye the way of the Lord and make his paths straight." (Mark 1:3)
I. The Announcement. (Mark 1:1-8)
II. The Acknowledgment. (Mark 1: 9-13)
III. The Authority. (Mark 1: 14-25)
Outline of the Book

This Study of Mark will not be a verse-by-verse study. We will study as the Lord leads. We have covered many of the events in the book of Matthew that are listed in the book of Mark. We will look into chapter one and we will be giving a Harmony of the Gospels hand out that we will be using to help us put things in proper sequence.

Mark 1:

Introduction: According to Acts 12:12, John Mark lived in Jerusalem with his mother, Mary. Mark was his Surname. A Surname was a name added to the baptismal or Christian name, it often depicted something about the person, and was sometimes used as a name to identify the family or practice of the person.
Mary must have been a devout Christian. According to the Scriptures, "many gathered in her home to pray." This tells us that Mark had been given good directions in his life. Our children need to have this kind of example to follow.
John Mark chose to go with Paul and Barnabas on their first missionary journey. (Acts 13:5) A famine had been upon the land and the brethren, which dwelt in Judea sent __________ from Antioch to _____________, by the hands of _____________ and _________. (Acts 11: 27-30)
Acts 13:13, tells us John Mark left Barnabas and Paul and returned to _______________. His turning back, later resulted in a _____________ between Barnabas and Paul. (Acts 15: 36-41) However, Paul did make an effort to settle the ______________. (Colossians 4:10 & II Tim. 4:11) Note, Paul expresses in these verses a _____________ about John Mark's ministry.
Peter referred to John Mark as a son. (II Peter 5:13) He calls him "_________ ___ _____".
No doubt, this reference to John Mark being a son is referring to him like a son in the ministry. It could be referring to him as a son because Peter had a hand in John Mark's conversion.
The Book presents Jesus as the Servant of God. (Mark 10: 44-45) Verse 45 is the key verse in the Book of Mark. The word "straightway" is used 41 times in the Book of Mark. Mark does not spend much time on speeches or long sermons. He was a man of action. He begins quickly with Jesus, the Servant of God, on the go. He pictures Jesus meeting the needs of the people everywhere he goes.
Note: Jesus is still meeting the needs of people. He supplies the need of His children. (Phil. 4:19) Reading the book of Mark, was encouragement to the Christian. The book was written about A.D. 64-67. Christians need to be encouraged today as well as in this period of history. At the time of this writing, Nero was Emperor of Rome.
The word Gospel means "good news". The opening remarks to the book of Mark, expresses good news to the believers. Mark presents the exciting fact of the coming of John the Baptist.
Incredible Journey

He declares him to be "The ___________ of one __________ in the wilderness. Prepare ye the ______ __ ____ _____, make his ________ ___________. (Mark 1: 3)

Here is the Outline of Chapter One of Mark:

I. The Announcement. (Mark 1: 1-8)
A. Jesus is the Son of God. (Mark 1:1)
1. Mark constantly testifies of the fact, "Jesus is the Son of God".
2. Demons testify, "Thou art the Son of God" (Mark 3:11)
3. Mad man of ____________, testified (He was possessed of many evil spirits.) "Jesus, thou Son of the most High God." (Mark 5: 7)
4. God testified at the Transfiguration, " This is my beloved Son: Here ye Him." (Mark 9:7)
5. Jesus testified using the "Parable of the Vineyard" to explain who he was. (Mark 12:1-12)
1) In verse six, "Having yet therefore ______ _____, he sent him also last unto them saying, they will _____________ my son".
2) In verse eight, what did they do to His Son? Answer:
(1) ______ _____ _____.
(2) ______ ________ _____.
(3) ______ ______ _____ _____.
6. The High Priest and Council asked Him; (Mark 14:61-62)
1) "Art thou the ________ the ______ of the __________?"
2) Jesus answered, "__ ____; and ye shall see the Son of Man sitting on the right hand of Power and coming in the clouds of Heaven."
7. The Centurion, "which stood over against Him, saw that he so cried out, and gave up the ghost, he said, ________ ______ ____ was _____ ____ __ _____." (Mark 15:39)
Notes: Reading Mark 1: 2-3, we see Mark quoting the Prophets. He quotes Malachi 3:1 and Isaiah 40: 3. The Prophet's declared __ ______________ would come. He would be the ______
of one __________ in the _______________, "make His paths straight".
In the Bible times, when a notable person or people would come to a city, the roads were prepared for the honor of this dignitary. This was to make the journey easier.
Israel was in a "spiritual wilderness" The Son of God was coming. Therefore, God sent John the Baptist to make ready the path. "The Son of God is coming". As Moses led them out of Egyptian bo***ge, and they wandered in the wilderness because of their lack of faith, so Israel is again in the bo***ge of sin. God sends John the Baptist to prepare the way and lead them to a saving knowledge of Jesus, their Messiah. Many of the people believed, but the spiritual leaders refused Him and eventually these spiritual leaders allowed John the Baptist to be killed. Jesus was their salvation but they refused Him. The stone the builders refused has become the chief corner stone.
John was the last of the Old Testament Prophets. He presented the Messiah to the Nation of Israel. (Matthew 11: 1-19)

Careful: Let's get it right. This is being used of God. We must not get ahead of God!

This is not showing our lack of Faith. It is showing the people that God wants their attention. The Church is doing exactly what the early Church of Jerusalem did. If you read Acts Chapter one the Church was under great discipline and persecution. The people scattered abroad and went everywhere preaching the Word. This is not testing our faith. It is testing our patience and control. I know we have several preachers who I have seen that are defying the rules and having Churches assemble. We are at home trying to control the spread of this terrible virus. We are using the internet to go everywhere preaching the Gospel. Don't make this a test of Faith. God has the Church outside the walls of their building sharing the Gospel. Yes, we are missing the fellowship of each other but let's not start blaming the Church who is doing what our elected officials have suggested we do. The Bible teaches us to obey those who have the authority over us. We must use common sense and stop and pray and let God have this thing. Do it on God's terms. When it starts taking the lives of your children and family like it has in New York. People can't even give their family a burial. They are hauling away the dead bodies and burying them in one big hole because they did not allow the government to control them. When it starts happening to your family, you will see why we need to be at home and doing all we can do to keep the virus under control. It is not happening to us so it is easy to say we should not be at home. This is not about control, it is about people and sin running rampant in our land and America throwing God out of the Schools and Courts and anywhere else they can. Remember who you are and why we are here. God help us understand. Don't be so quick to pick out the Churches lack of Faith. When you have a beam in your own eye.

Incredible Journey
Matthew 27:
By: Dr. Joe W. Eaton

Introduction: The week has been filled with events; beginning with the ride of Jesus on the c**t that had never been ridden, cursing of the fig tree, the Passover meal, institution of the Lord’s Supper, Gethsemane, the arrest, and the high priest house and the false trial. Now, we find the Jews delivering Jesus to Governor Pilate.
We find 4 different individuals or groups in Matthew chapter 27.

I. Judas (Matthew 27:1-10)
A. He is not a hero. (John 6:70)
Note: Some have tried to say, Judas was a victim of circumstance. Actually, they say, Judas did what he did to help Jesus do what he had to do. This is not true.
1. Judas committed an act of sin, deliberate sin.
2. Some say he was part of the plan, he had no choice.
3. Judas made his choice and he knew he had sinned. (Matthew 27:4)
Note: He got caught in the act. His confession before the counsel after he betrayed the Lord is one of those, “I am sorrow”, actually, sorry he got caught. Like many today, they would never have confessed, if they had not been caught. Just because people get caught, does not mean they are truly sorry. Real repentance confesses sin even if we don’t get caught.
B. He rejected the Son of God.
1. He rejected the truth and believed a lie.
2. Satan took possession of him. (John 13:3-27)
3. Judas did confess that Jesus was innocent. (John 8:44)
1) Judas did not call him Lord, but he called Jesus, “___________”. (Matt. 26: 25)
2) Judas planned his own death by purchasing the “Potter’s Field”; prophecy was
fulfilled. (Zechariah 11: 3)
Note: Christ death purchased redemption of the world; Judas death purchased a cemetery for strangers.

II. Pilate (Matthew 27:11-32)
Note: Pilate is the Governor of this Roman Providence. He has the power over what ever he wants to do as long as it satisfied the Roman Government. (Matthew 27: 2) As we stated, Judas did not call him Lord. One day he will call him Lord. (Philippians 2:9-11) Two things we note about Pilate:

A. Pilate’s indecision.
1. Pilate’s indecision made him _____________.
2. Pilate tried to make Jesus commit himself.
Note: The question was, “Art thou the ________ of the Jews? What did Jesus answer? Jesus said, “_______ ________ ___ ______.” (Matt. 27:12)

3. What did Pilate’s wife do? (Matt.27: 19)
1) She sent him a ______________.
2) She had a terrible ___________.
3) She called Jesus a ________ man.
B. Pilate’s decision.
1. He tried to trade Jesus for a known criminal. His name was ____________.

2. He tried to remove his guilt by allowing the crowd to decide. (V.22)
3. He knew the truth. (Matt. 27:18)
4. What did the Jews say? (Matt. 27:25)_____ ____ _________ __ __ _______ ____ _____ _____________.
5. Pilate tried to rid himself of guilt.
1) He washed his _________ ________ ___________.
2) He declared he was _______________ of the Blood of Jesus.
3) He stated Jesus was a ________ man.
Note: No one can avoid making a decision about Jesus. True, this was in God’s plan, (Acts 3:18) but Pilate was not guiltless. Who did Acts 3:13-19, place most of the blame on? ______
____________.
You may declare that Jesus is a good man, master, just man, but in order to be saved you must believe that Jesus is the Son of God who arose from the Grave, and gave himself a ransom on the Cross that you might be saved.

III. Spectators (Matthew 27: 33-54)
A. Psalms 22: gives us a vivid picture of the crucifixion.
Note: Many of these pictures are fulfilled in Matthew 27.
B. Contrast
1. While the Son of God suffered for man’s sin. Soldiers gambled for his earthly possessions.
2. While the Jews revile Him, the people sit and stare at Him.
3. While the Priest and Elders deny Him. A Roman Soldier confesses, “Truly this was the ______ ___ _____! (Matt. 27:54)
Reference: Matthew 27:55,40, John 2:19, Matthew 26:61 and Matthew 27: 37, 42
C. Three significant events.
1. The veil of the Temple that hung between the holy place and the holy of holies was torn from top to the bottom. This signified His Blood opened a new way to God.
2. The tombs/graves were opened in the cemetery. This signified that His death conquered death.
3. The Saints who were buried arose, after Jesus arose, and showed themselves to those in the city. This signified that Jesus not only conquered death himself but his resurrection conquered death, hell, and the grave.
Note: I Corinthians 15: 20-23 Jesus had to be the first fruits of them that slept..

IV. Friend’s (Matthew 27: 55-56)
A. While Jesus was being crucified God allowed the people to do their worst, but when the
work of redemption was complete, God allowed only His friends to handle him.
B. Joseph and Nicodemus were believers; otherwise they would not of defiled themselves
on the Passover. When they buried the body of Jesus they defiled themselves under the
law.
Conclusion: Under the law they defiled themselves but they no longer needed a Passover Lamb. They found forgiveness in the Lamb of God. Living under Grace we are not bound to the law. The Law is our schoolmaster. It teaches us right and wrong. Jesus our Lord and Master taught us the law does not save us but we are saved by Grace. All because of what he did at Calvary.
