Dear Friends, Family, and Supporters
For the third year, I have a wonderful opportunity to be a part of a week long summer mission trip with the youth of Ken Mawr United Presbyterian Church. This will be the 17th year that that our church has provided high school and college students with an opportunity to serve a community in need by working to build and renovated homes for those who are unable to do the work themselves. The workcamp experience is coordinated by Group Workcamps (a national faith-based organization) in partnership with local community and religious organizations and is a chance for young people and their adult leaders to be witness to their faith not only through the work projects but in carefully planned programs. There is a tremendous opportunity for all participants to become more deeply committed to serving others while examining personal relationships with each other and with God.
As we prepare to embark on this journey, we are making all the necessary travel arrangements. Because of the distance we are travelling this year (to Elizabeth City NC) we are incurring considerable travel cost to ensure the safety of all those participating.
If you find it in your heart to support 25 youth and adults serving some of our most vulnerable people in our country, would you please consider donating to this cause?
The other opportunity for support is to be in proayer for the group as we prepare for the trip as well as our week in Elizabeth City (June 19-25).
All participants will be sharing the workcamp experience with the Ken Mawr congregation on Sunday July 17 during both the 8:30 and 11:00 services. You are invited to join us to hear the stories of rebuilding not only homes, but lives and to see what God can do through his people.
