The Mission of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church is to devote ourselves to the divine purpose for which the church was founded: To proclaim the Kingdom of God the Father to all people; To bring people to Jesus Christ; To obey the Holy Spirit, who comes to us through the Word of God and the Sacraments; To foster a community of love and concern by listening to the hopes and needs of people and by responding with action; We will continue to strive for this mission as members of the whole body of Christ, in the Lutheran tradition, by the help of God. Amen
Good Shepherd Lutheran Church began when the congregations of Mt. Calvary Lutheran Church (1863-1968) and St. John's Lutheran Church (1885-1968) consolidated their strengths to form a new congregation and began worshipping together at 618 Russellwood Avenue, McKees Rocks, Pennsylvania. The articles of incorporation were approved by the State of Pennsylvania through Judge Arthur Wessel in the Court of Common Please on September 4, 1968 for a joined congregation of Good Shepherd Evangelical Lutheran Church of McKees Rocks.
Good Shepherd is a congregation within the Southwestern Pennsylvania Synod (www.swpasynod.org) of the Evangelical Lutheran Church of America (www.elca.org)
