I am writing this letter with mixed emotions right now. Words are not adequate enough to express my gratitude for the nine years that you have shown love & support to us as your under shepherd. You all have been a blessing to my family and I. And for that,we are very grateful. Lang’s Chapel, let me say that the relationship that has formed between us will never fade away. You will forever be remembered as one of the greatest congregations that I have had the privilege to pastor in my 25+ years . We may have started out a little bumpy, but once we got to know & understand each other, your love & hospitality was extremely radical. Your support was exceptional. When I first came to Lang’s nine years ago, I found Lang’s to be that secret treasure; that “diamond in the rough”. But now, you have come out of the “rough”. You all are now just bright, sparkling, & shining diamonds! Please, don’t ever stop shinning like the diamonds that you are! Continue to support the leader that God has sent your way. God is not unrighteous to forget your labor of love! My family and I will definitel miss all of you, and we will always love you from the depths of our hearts ! I know we’ll see each other in the near future but sometimes it just have me feeling some kinda way. Pray for us that God will continue to use us in His service. We will always keep you in our prayer scope!
“How can I say thanks, for the things He has done for me.
Things so undeserved, but yet He gave to prove His love for me!
The voices of a million angels, could not express my gratitude!
All that I am and ever hope to be, I owe it all to Thee!

TO GOD BE THE GLORY!!!

TO GOD BE THE GLORY!!!

TO GOD BE THE GLORY!!!

FOR THE THINGS HE HAS DONE!!!

Forever in our spirits and hearts,

Rev. Harold & Meloney J. Griffin, Sr.

This is a short hymn of praise that is only a few lines long is called a doxology. In Jewish tradition, a form of a doxology served as the end of each part of the service. At the end of the Epistle to the Romans we find a doxology in the form of a prayer.

Paul writes to the believers in Rome, and all who read it, with the focus on hope.

First, we must believe in the God of hope--not because we expect Him to do anything for us, but because we have faith in Him. Then, as we believe, God will fill us with joy and peace. This is not a temporary fix; it is unending joy and peace that is produced by the Holy Spirit. Seeking God takes our eyes off of our current circumstances and onto the things of God.

Morning Meditation:

HE SETS US FREE!

If the Son therefore shall make you free, ye shall be free indeed."
John 8:36 KJV

This verse tells us that if Jesus has freed us, then we really are free. Jesus gets the final word regarding our bo***ge to sin. Once He sets us free, nothing on Earth (or beyond) has the power to bind us up. Jesus defeated sin for us on the cross; we are able to enjoy the spoils of the battle forevermore.

However, sometimes the greatest enemy against this freedom is found within ourselves. We might hear that we are free from sin, but then struggle with temptation. We might intellectually assent to our freedom, but never feel the joy that it is supposed to give us. To live in this freedom is very different from merely acknowledging that we have it.

So how do we live in freedom? There are many practical ways to embrace it in your life. The first is to memorize this Bible verse. As you memorize, pray for the Lord to use it in your heart when you find yourself being defeated by sin. Then, when you are tempted to return to your old ways, you can repeat the verse to yourself, reminding yourself that you have a choice between embracing sin or turning your back on it.

As we make this a habit, the benefits of living in freedom will come. Over time, we will not view sin as something desirable or pleasurable. Instead, we will see it as it really is: an abomination against the Lord. Collaborating with the Lord to grow in our sanctification produces intimacy with Him. As we get to know Him better, the thought of doing something that displeases Him becomes more and more repulsive to us.

Indeed, while we are free from sin, we are not without a master. Jesus is our Lord, and He has set us free from sin -- not that we are able to live morally good lives on our own, but instead, that we would embrace His goodness, kindness, and love. In Him, and in Him alone, there is true freedom.

Prayer of Meditation:

Dear Lord, I thank you so much for freedom. Thank you for your sweet, sweet kindness to me. You're above everything I could ever want, and you are so much better than the sin that sometimes seems to ensnare me. Help me to remember that when I face temptation. I love you, Jesus. In your name, Amen.
